  1. I worked with Alan duing 2000 and we quickly became good friends as we clicked straight away. The service tributes given reflected my perception of Alan very well. We’ll all miss “Big Al” in a big way. Condolences to Jane , Campbell, and all of Alans family.

  2. Denise. Jut here that lives across the road from. Joy and. Jim. That was the most beautiful service I ever witnessed. A true reflection of the. Alan we all knew. Maybe he was trying to do too much to quickly to fast. His heart could,t handle it. God. Bless . Love from. Denise and. Barry . Jut xxx

  3. Love to Jane, family and friends. My thoughts are with you at this time. I know the too quiet space he leaves behind. If you listen carefully, you still hear a giggling quip or funny snide remark still being whispered.
I used to work with Alan in Brisbane and got in trouble (primary school style) for talking and laughing too much at work. haha 🙂 I will miss many a lunch, coffee break and drink but especially the huge amounts of laughs at work.
My sincere condolences to you, Jane and Campbell, and also to all friends and family. He is certainly a large personality to miss. Let’s all keep those memories and share those memories among us.
    Much love, Belinda. xxx

  4. This was a lovely service to view, l felt the love and admiration everyone had for Alan.
It is a long time since l have seen Alan, he was about 6 when him and his sisters and Aunty Joy stayed with us, all squished into the flat!!
He told my Dad his name was “monster” so he had fun even then making us laugh.
    Bless him
    Rest in Peace now.
    Your cousin Dawn xx

  5. What a lovely service for Alan. I am thinking of you all – Jane, Campbell, Joy, Jim, Carol and Fiona and the rest of the family and Alan’s friends. I feel and share your great loss and pray that God comforts and strengthens us all in the days ahead and that we can keep sharing the love, laughter and music, as Alan did so well. I also pray that before too long it will be possible for us to be together again so that we can hug and share our memories in person. God bless.

  6. Beautiful service in such a trying time. Much love to you Jane, Campbell and Alan’s family and loved ones.

Condolences in this loss of Alan. Was a very nice service.
Alan worked with us (NBN) for few years and he always brought laughter and good chats. He welcomed all.
I do remember well his love of music and him sitting at this desk typing away listening in the background.

Thanks for sharing some memories on Alan, I now know he loved some fireworks! I can see him firing them off.

Farewell Alan and thanks for the laughing memories 🙂

  12. We are very sad to have lost our much loved nephew Alan.We have very happy memories of times spent together, fun, laughter and companionship. We will remember Alan as a tall , gangly boy with long legs and arms, and the longest fingers. He had a quirky sense of humour and when he laughed his eyes twinkled merrily.
Like his father,Alan was a true gentleman. He was kind, warm and loved his family.
Alan was a very musical and creative person who added joy , colour and happiness to all our lives.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Jane, Campbell and his mother, father,Carol, Fiona and the wider family circle.
I will never leave you nor forsake you.

  13. You will be forever in the hearts of those who love you. Sending love to you Jane, Campbell, the Downey Family and all who love this incredible man Al. X

  14. To Jane & family,
My deepest condolences on your sudden loss of a beautiful kind loving soul, who had touched so many. Even mine of the 16 years we had together. I’m so sorry that it ended to soon for you both.
But I know his love & memories will live on forever in our hearts. ❤️

  15. Alan was a good friend at work, and we kept in touch long after we parted ways. I was crying as I was viewing this live stream video, he will be missed. We were planning to meet in person soon once the Melbourne lockdown has lifted, and because I recently moved to Bayswater not too far from his house. One of the fondest memories I have of him was that we got along well with Star Wars, and time and again he would quote half of Darth Vader’s line to Luke Skywalker, with full voice acting and accent : “If you only knew the power… (with clenched fist)”

Farewell, my friend. The one thing I wish I could have said to you was “Jesus loves you.” Time and again I implied that and I think somehow you understood. Still, I wanted to say it.

  16. Condolences to Jane and Campbell and all of Alans family and friends. I never met Alan but after seeing the service i wish i had. Rest in Peace.
