It meant a lot to us as we were not able to attend. He was not only my cousin but a great mate. . We had only spoken recently while I was recovering from surgery & was looking forward to catching up with him in February.
He will be fondly remembered for his wit & wonderful sense of humour.

  6. Georgia and Cameron. I was devastated to here of your dad’s passing today. I am so sorry I couldn’t be there as I am in Perth. I watched the entire service and was moved and heartened to hear of so many stories about Al, so many of them I could relate to – your dad was an absolute Gem.

The last time I saw your dad was at the WIOA water exhibition in Bendigo last September when he told me he had been having some health issues. I resolved that we needed to have a coffee together when we got back to Melbourne. Unfortunately, to my eternal regret this never happened.

I met your dad in 1989 when I joined Bran+Luebbe as a 26 year old and your dad was 44. We immediately for a life-long bond. He attended my wedding in 1991. You may not remember meeting me but I remember the two of you as young teenagers – Al was sooooooo proud of you both. Whenever we caught up (usually over a bottle of red at WIOA in Bendigo) he would proudly show me photos of you and your kids.

Although we didn’t see each other as regularly as we would have liked, your dad and I were great friends. He would always say to me “Smithy, you and I will always be good friends”. We would laugh about our 3-odd years together at Bran+Luebbe and how we would sometimes cry together – sometimes with laughter, sometimes with sadness as shared our life experiences – our stories about the loss of our own fathers were difficult memories.

I will truly miss your dad – Al. You should be rightly so proud of such as fantastic man with an enormous heart.
