  3. Sending love and sympathy to you Bronwyn and Carolyn. To be able to join with you and share in the service has been a privilege. Although I spent time with Rupert and Janet more recently due to their visits to Carolyn at Cobram, I learnt so much more about his life I never knew. I have learnt even more todsy. To lose both your Mum and Dad so close together must leave you both feeling rather lost and alone. Both Rupert and Janet were warm, kind and loving people who I’m sure twill be missed by many. Much love, Nelva

  12. Dear Bronwyn, Carolyn & families. Thank you so much for allowing us to say goodbye to Rupert online. You all did so well – from the eulogy, from which Lewis learned so much about his cousin, to the Vicar & the organist. These are difficult times, especially for you all, having lost both Janet & Rupert.
Rupert would have been so proud of all of you.

    VALE Rupert.

  14. Dear Bronwyn and Carolyn and family,
We have been with you online for the funeral service for Rupert. We are deeply sorry for your loss and our hearts and prayers are with you at this time as you grieve the loss of both your mother and father. I often talked with Rupert about farming life at Yalca, where of course my own father had a farm. Rupert and I also shared a common dairy farming life and upbringing. It was wonderful hearing so much about Rupert’s life, skills and commitment to so many community groups. Peter and I had no idea of the extent of it, which speaks so clearly to Rupert’s humility. There is much in your parents’ lives from which you can draw strength. Our love to you both, Barbara and Peter Gronn

  15. Dear Bronwyn and Carolyn

We are Clive and Judy Luckman colleagues of Rupert at DSD for 30 years. It was a lovely, moving service for your father and we were privileged to have been able to participate via video. It was fascinating to learn about his early life. He was such a pleasant, kind gentleman.

You may be interested to learn that a history of DSD (now ASD) is to be published in 2022. If you would like to obtain a copy in due course, please send us your email and we will let you know when it becomes available for purchase.

Our sincere sympathy at this very difficult time for you.

  16. Rupert & Janet fondly remembered by Jean & John Sloman. We especially admired the strength shown by them both through the latter years of their battle with Janet’s cancer.

  17. Rupert, and his wife Janet, contributed greatly to the Probus Club of Chatham, and will be sorely missed by members. They were a delightful couple, very sincere.

  18. Sincere condolences to all Rupert’s family. Rupert and Janet have been very much loved parishioners of St Faith’s, and it has particularly been a privilege for me to have served with Rupert, as he faithfully fulfilled the role of server in the sanctuary over many years, and also on previous vestries. We will all miss him and Janet, and hold you all in our prayers.
