  7. Dear Robyn,
Very sorry we could not attend the funeral service for David…but we were in Milawa and now Metung on “holiday”. We watched the service on video instead. Although I only worked together with David for a short period at Toyota, Dawn and I have happy memories of our dealer trip with you both to France many years ago. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.

Returning home from a dog walk along the beach or a cycle home from work, often we would be greeted by a warm smile and hello from David. Before catching his eye, David would be pensively looking out to the beautiful sea, of course with a scotch in hand. Through this beautiful celebration of David’s life today, I can imagine now what David was pondering. Besides still solving others’ problems, he was taking a moment to cheers his beautiful wife and family, great friendships, brilliant career and a life well lived. We are privileged having known David.

    Love Shelly and Doug

  16. As bosses go, David was more a mento than someone who simply told me what to do, he did often question the how, to make me think about the ramifications and achievement of desired results. In-fact when asked, his answer was usually, “You’re a smart young man, you figure it out.” Regardless what decision I made or how I chose to facilitate it, he always had my back and I learned the value of self-belief and courage to challenge myself.

In my early days David pushed me to do many things that I did not believe I was capable of, eventually creating a confident and purposeful me. He taught me the value of honesty, the value of the people around me and the pleasure that was to be gained from helping others become the best they could be.

As a friend, David was no different and despite his own challenges helped me through a pretty difficult time in my own life.

I have nothing but admiration and respect for this man who taught me so much and asked little in return. I’m greatly saddened that I’m unable to attend the service today, but as I was once told, “Sometimes things don’t always work out how you’d like.”

  17. You are in our thoughts today. David was a wonderful man and a true inspiration to me. He helped me to build my career, had a fantastic wit and his love of fine red wine has certainly rubbed off on me!

    Love and prayers.
