  1. It was so interesting to hear of Doug’s life, how he lived it and the positive influence he has had on his family and others. Doug was very likeable and we always enjoyed chatting to him. He is remembered by us with fondness.
Deepest sympathy and love to Lorraine and family,

  3. Dear Lorraine,

We so appreciate you remembering us and including us in Doug’s memorial service. I muffed the direct participation via Zoom but Susan and I watched the service on line last night. Such an emotional evocation of the man we loved and admired. You and his family really did him proud.
The whole service was extraordinarily well choreographed, yet informal and moving as family, one by one, paid their respects.
From such a command performance by so many, it seems inappropriate to pick highlights but I will anyway. Iain’s variation on Ecclesiastes 3 was a heart-rending and revealing tribute to his father which brought me to tears. But it was your ability to lift up and bring joy to such an occasion which made the ceremony so memorable. Sydney Carter’s “Keep me travelling along with you” was an inspired inclusion; so appropriate with its historical association with your marriage. We joined in the chorus here with misty eyes.

Love to you and your wonderful family.

  5. Dear Lorraine and all the family, saddened to hear of Doug’s passing and extending our sympathies to all, especially you Lorraine. Fond memories of treasured times spent many years ago. I even harken back to our skiing trip to Falls Creek, now that was a long time ago. Unable to watch today but will watch the edited video when available. Love to all, Lorraine & Rob Carlton xxx

  6. To Lorraine & family,
So sad to hear about Doug’s passing. My sincere sympathy for your loss, he was such a beautiful soul and will be greatly missed. It was a lovely service with some great memories shared.
    Much love,
Bernadette (formerly from #22 up the road)

  7. To Lorraine: It was a privilege to be able to “participate” in this service via the live stream. Your telling of the Emmaus Road story was moving and powerful, as was the inclusion of “One More Step Along the Road”. The service was a lovely tribute to Doug, whom I remember as warm and friendly. In your continuing journey, may you always be aware of his love and support.

  8. To Eddie please accept our sincere condolences in the loss of your much loved brother. Your words and reminiscing of your time growing up together were sad but also very enjoyable to hear.

    Love Barb and Aunty Daisy

  9. so sorry for your loss but lots of memories to treasure. lovely service but the sound was dreadful, too much echo so couldn’t understand what people were saying. Love to all
Brenda, Susan, Denis and families xx

  10. Dear Lorraine and family,

It was with a profound sense of shock that we saw the news in The Age this morning.
Ian has been able to watch this service live as Jill had another commitment.

The Service was a wonderful tribute to Doug. We are so sorry that he is gone from our sight but not our memories. One of his paintings graces the wall above our dining room table.

  11. To Lorraine, Robert, Janet, Ian and all the grandchildren, please accept our deepest sympathy in the loss of Doug. You will all have wonderful lasting memories that you will cherish forever. With Gods blessing to all the family. Love Aunty Daisy and Barbara.

  12. Our sincerest condolences to Lorraine and family on the passing of Doug. The family talking about Doug, especially the grandchildren was very emotional. Many lovely memories. I am sorry we couldn’t be with you in person, but Philip has just had a serious back operation and cannot yet do much.
