My Dear George, we were more than cousins – we were like brothers – we were the best of friends. We shared so much & stayed in contact till the end.
I have so many memories from our youth. Together we played in the fields, together we ran up & down the hills & gathered sticks to bring back home to our mothers. As well as many days & nights at the καφενείο drinking coffee & smoking away like λεβέντες that we were. You taught me how to play cards. Together we made a decision to board the Seven Seas – a big ship that changed our lives forever. We both said ‘only a few years’ but here we are 66 years later & I’m farewelling you goodbye from afar in my home in Adelaide surrounded by my family as you are surrounded by yours.
May your soul now RIP.
