What a beautiful celebration of a long life, lived so graciously, kindly and lovingly. The recollections shared by family and friends provided broad brush-strokes of Ian and Shirley, but the intricate details are added in by our own memories of this special family who lived quietly, but very successfully – in the truest sense of that word. To the family members and friends – you are very privileged to have been within the influence, nurture, example and care of this faithful couple. The accurate, descriptive term “gentle-man” emerged several times during Ian’s service … how very, very true.
With fond memories,
Lynne Dickson (nee Brain)
Dear Shirley and family,
We were pleased to be able to join you online for this service which was so thoughtfully prepared and presented. Neil remembers Ian well from the time spent together at Queens College in the 1950s. Ian remained thoughtful and caring throughout his life. His funeral service conveyed the warmth and love shared with his family. Our thoughts are with you all.
A great service which exemplified Ian, his love of family, friends, church and many other interests. Our best wishes are with Shirley, Anne, Michael and their families.
Dear Aunty Shirley, Anne, Michael and Alison.
Thank you for the opportunity to be able to share in Uncle Ian’s Service, he was a gentle thoughtful and kind man, at peace now. Our prayers hugs and thoughts are with you all. love Margie Karol and all the Robbo’s.
Loved ones live in memory even when they’re gone
They live in thoughts of happy times
The joys still linger on.
Such a beautiful service, celebrating the inspirational life of our Uncle Ian. We loved him very much and he was so special to our Mum, “Heddy.” I can only imagine the music they are making together, riding Heaven’s golden highways in joyful abandon with Jesus. Sending all our love to you Auntie Shirley, Anne, Michael, Alison and family.

Sending love Auntie Shirley, Anne , Michael and family as you farewell dear Uncle Ian. I have so many fond memories of family times spent together. I will always remember him for his quiet, thoughtful and caring manner and his wonderful smile. Thinking of you all at this time.
Ian made a wonderful contribution to Maroondah Singers over so many years. He was a friend to so many in the choir. Always a great supporter of the choir after he left. A true gentleman. He will be missed.
Sending you our deepest sympathies at the passing of your loved one. Always remembered as a quiet and smiling guy who loved his church family. May you find courage and peace in the coming days.
