  1. Staying at the Beaumaris Motel recently we heard the news of Martin’s passing. I worked for Martin nearly 30 years ago. I was at the end of my apprenticeship and Martin just started Vincents. He was a wonderful boss, and always took great care of his employers.
    A very gentle, caring man.
    Thanks Martin.
    Nicole.

  2. Only just found out the sad news of Martins passing, my deepest condolences to his 3 boys and extended family and friends for their loss. RIP my friend

  8. Marty, one of my closest friends, my mentor and the man I have looked up to and have admired for 25 years. An amazing friendship that only you and I got. A man that no matter what happened in life, if you were a freind he had your back. A father to the boys that are now men. If I were to ever have kids of my own, I could only hope that I was half the dad that you are. You went the extra mile with everything you did, and being a dad, you absolutely smashed the brief. I will miss the dinners at primrose, and the city nights, the random wine bars and all the great times we shared. Your teachings and the way you are will be used dayly in alot of people’s lives. So many people will miss you mate. I love you Unta. Rest peacefully mate.

  9. We remember Martin as a generous, social and beautiful human being.
I very recently caught up with a Martin walking the dogs at Dendy Park, he was happy. We spoke about his boys, who he treasured and always spoke highly of. You boys should be very proud of him, he loved you dearly. I invited him to Mt.Buller where we are currently residing, I was hoping to ski with him.
Today during the memorial we were privileged to reflect back on Martin’s life with tears filling our eyes knowing that we will never be able to experience his company again but at the same time, reflecting on all the joy we did experience with him.
Martin has left a stain that will stay with us forever, and that’s just fine! We loved him, to us, he was inspirational.
    May he Rest In Peace.
    Love Richard & Abi

  10. I have so much gratitude for having worked for Martin and for the opportunity to be apart of the Vincent’s family back in the 90’s. So many great memories and great people. Martin’s authenticity, compassion and caring nature made him a great man to work for. Thanks for the memories and experience. C’mon Guys as he would say.
Condolences to your family and friends you’ll be sadly missed Martin. Rest In Peace mate…

  11. Condolences to Martin’s family and to Erich’s family.

Rob, Wendy, Lara, Cooper and Reese Wandaller.

  12. Your irreverent and often ‘perfectly wrong’ sense of humour, always with a side comment (slightly under your breath) that would have us in fits.
Your food would always have our bellies full and happy.
Your home always made us feel like we were welcome.
You were the youngest at heart, but the oldest in age and would do laps around us all with your stamina and drive.
Whether it be in the middle of the RHI at Mardi Gras, on a wild car rally, at the many fancy dress events or in our home for dinner – You were always there, always welcome and always enjoying life.
Pragmatic and calm, you always seemed to handle any situation with ease.
You will be missed Martin. Rest in Peace.
We take many lessons from how you lived you life and you will always be part of ours. Thank you.
    J and I xo

PS – I really hope they have the best ski slopes and dance floors up there.

  13. My Vincent’s years hold so many fond memories.
Martin I hope you have found peace and continue with your dry sense of humour wherever you are.
Sincere condolences to your family and all those who hold you dear.

  14. Your were a wonderful friend, so many laughs, so many jokes, so many hugs, so many dinners, so many parties, so many dance floors, so many memories that will always be in our hearts. We will miss your smile, big welcoming hugs, generosity and love….we hope you have found peace.

Our thoughts and love go to Irene, Mathias, Stefan, Tom & all family & friends.

All our love, Nicole, Leon, Lucas & Madeleine Taylor xx

  16. Most of my fondest memories were at Martin’s house when I lived in Melbourne in the late 90’s early 2000. Being from QLD, Martin and Irene were my extended family, where I was always welcome and felt at home.

I always remember a framed photo of Martin on the living room wall of Martin finishing the swim leg of one of the triathlons he competed in. It was a photo from back in the day when speedo’s and big moustaches were the normal triathlon attire. It always made me laugh but it also inspired me. I did join a Tri club when I moved back to QLD, and I always enjoyed catching up with Martin and sharing stories of my tri training, running, bikes, chaffing and how it felt to be beaten up at the back of the swim leg. Martin would laugh as he was usually at the front in the swim leg.

Triathlons, coffee, cooking, parties, dancing, music, work, drinking, crazy laugher, relationships, children and life in general…I have countless memories of conversations with Martin and good times we shared.

    Martin…you will be missed. x

  19. Growing up Martin was always the cool dad in the group. He always had a smile on his face and something classic to say. I always hoped to be as friendly, social and fun as him when I grew up. He was always keen to hang out having a beer and a laugh with the boys.
Thank you for being a friend and mentor to us all.
    Eternally young, witty and kind.

  22. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Martin, you were always up for anything and everything and you beat to the sound of your own drum, but whatever you were doing, you had a huge grin on your face, like you knew something that the rest of us didn’t, or simply, you were enjoying yourself.

Martin, you were great to be around, such a sense of fun and mischief and we are all sadder now we only have memories.

Desperately sad for Thomas, Georgia, Stefan, Mathias, Irene and all of the extended family.
    Miss you mate.

  70. Martin was a Tri-Hard – part of a group that had its genesis around 1985 at the Batman Avenue Swim Centre. With Ron, Stewart, Maurie, Graham and large and growing bunch of others Martin ran, swam, rode, challenged, lambasted and laughed with the group for nearly 30 years. We shared everyone’s life journey through a generation of marriages, births, upbringings, happiness and sadness. There is no collective sadness greater than the loss of “one of us”. The time together becomes less through the years, but the bond does not wane. Martin was a mate and will be missed by his mates. Rest easy now mate.

  71. Martin, you were a wonderful kind man and a great boss!

My thoughts are with the beautiful family you have left behind.

    Warmth and peace,

    Francine

    1. Great memories of Martin both socially and riding. Years ago after riding to Balcombe Hill on many occasions we would arrive back at his place. He would make us an incredibly tasty pasta and amazingly whipped this up in 5-10 minutes Great conversation then followed with coffee and a critique about the ride discussing pedal technique, gear selection, equipment, energy foods and gels. He was always very generous and a pleasure to ride with. You will be missed.
