  1. Vale dear Carmel. You inspired me over 30 years ago. A mighty wife, mother, friend, mentor. A lady before her time. Now reunited with her beloved man. The race well run. Your deep faith, and complete love is a beautiful legacy you leave with those you loved most. RIP

A beautiful service and very fitting for a wonderful Lady, may she rest in peace knowing she has raised a loving family, her time on this earth is now complete.

  6. Such a beautiful heartfelt tribute to Carmel from her gorgeous family. I remember such happy fun filled days in Upper Beaconsfield when the McKenna and Dunlop tribes got together with the kids running amok in the bush only to return to base when hungry when the lure of a bbq beckoned. Des, Maureen and Reg enjoyed many a beer whilst calm Carmel always made sure we were well fed and looked after. Maureen and Carmel were great friends sharing the same birthday and many pregnancies in tandem. It was my great pleasure to have kept in contact with Carmel and Des after Mum and Dad passed. Carmel had an infinite amount of love to share. She was an absolute treasure and will be missed deeply.

I am sorry I couldn’t be there today with you all. What an incredible send off you gave your mum today. To have you all together to celebrate her life as beautifully as you did, capturing the true essence of who she was and what she meant to everyone was very special to watch. I remember meeting her for the first time, her warmth, her laugh and deep love for her kids. An inspiration. What a legacy she leaves. My thoughts are with you all

  19. Deepest sympathy to Bernadette, Michael and all the McKenna family. Carmel loved Malmsbury and gave so much support to me for the Malmsbury Mail. After a few years break I am happy to say that the Malmsbury Mail has just been reborn (under a new editor and committee) with first issue coming out recently. She (and Des) supported any contributions to the social and cultural development of the town. Carmel and I shared our experiences volunteering with Meals on Wheels. Her heart was always in the community and was really proud of the Preloved Pedlar Opportunity Shop which she and Des were instrumental in getting started. Molly the Wombat still stands sentinel on the Village Green (in need of a spruce up). I would like to attend the service online.

  21. Hi,
It is so sad that Aunty Carmel has now left us. As one of her McKenna nephews, my fondest memories of her was her generous hosting of the Christmas extended family gatherings at her place in Upper Beaconsfield for many years.
She always made our family feel so welcome and it was always a wonderful time.
In later years I always enjoyed welcoming visits to Carmel and Des’ place in Malmsbury, where family was always at the centre of our conversations. And as always they were both heavily involved in helping their community.
Dear Aunty Caramel was a wonderful woman.
Unfortunately I can’t make it to the funeral or to the online event. Vale Carmel.
