  11. i am deeply sadened after watching the beautiful service. I never met Mathew but it felt like I knew him. I followed his journey through my son who was a work colleague of Mathews at Ford motor company. He felt comfort in talking to my son as he also went through a battle with cancer, we are blessed as Michael is still here with us today. They were always there for a chat through each others journey.

  20. Beautiful service Claire. Thoughts and prayers are with you, Elliot and all the family at this sad and difficult time.

  21. We have just been privileged to be a part of Matts funeral.
Having obviously never met him we did this initially out of a wish to somehow support the family whom we now consider as special friends.
We are so grateful that we did.
The service was so unlike what might have taken place here in the UK – how much we should learn. The lack of formal hymns, of prescribed words was totally upstaged by all the individual tributes. The one addressed to Elliott was something else. As he grows up and becomes old enough to understand what was said it will not of course replace his dad but it will give him a goal to aspire to.
Our very best wishes, though these seem terribly inadequate.

  22. Dear Ro and Steve,

Your words made it clear where Mathew got the courage, strength and dignity from to fight his final battle. Ro, your mum and dad would have been so proud.

Jen & Graeme (friends for over 60 years).

  23. Such a brave battle by all of you as a family and Matthew himself, so glad you were with him throughout always at his side. Our thoughts are with you and wish you comfort in knocking he’s not suffering any further. Love Frank & Lynda

  24. Although we attended Matt’s funeral, we were grateful to be able to watch it again, as the memories , emotions and tributes on the day were just too overwhelming. A beautiful service, thank you Clare and all involved.
    Rest now in peace, Matt.

  25. I am lost for words. So many beautiful memories to remember and cherish. May they give you comfort and bring you joy during such a terrible time. Some of my favourite memories with him were in Florida, when he helped me hold the gecko but the tail came off in my hand (I was 4), or the time in Geneva he helped me learn to skateboard, to which I quickly gave up and spent the week rolling around sat on it instead (aged 11).

Life can be truely cruel sometimes. Matthew was an amazing man and he will be remembered always. Sending all my love Em xx

  26. What a lovely service and wonderful tribute to Matthew’s life. Thank you for sharing it. Ro, I can only hope that it is some comfort to you and Steve and your family to know that you are in the thoughts of so many caring friends during this sad time. Matthew was obviously a very special young man.
    Love, Gary and Lynette Taylor
