  1. What a beautiful service for such a memorable man. Thank you for making it possible for us all to be with you today.

I will be forever grateful for your welcome when we first arrived in Australia. So many great memories as a teenager that I will cherish forever.
We definitely trained hard but with so much laughter and connection along the way.
    Thinking of you all x

  2. Thinking of you all today Kel, Adam and Jenny. Today was a beautiful tribute to a truly special person who will be lovingly remembered..

    Love always Shari xx

  3. I started dancing at 17yrs, 1958, at Mickey Powell’s in Bourke Street.
Bought our house in ’65, stopped competing due to expense.
Neil and his partners (Linette then Jennie) were way ahead in talent, but all the wonderful memories of dancing and the friends, have stayed with me… Ron & Joan Gubbins, Wyn & Russ Hesketh, Margaret & Stewart Lonsdale and others. At 85, I still dance. One of the best desicions of my life…in’58 to dance. My commiserations to Neil’s family.

  4. What a fabulous tribute to Neil. Watched it from the Gold Coast. He will be greatly missed and always remembered.

  6. Our heart felt condolences to Jenny, family and friends of Neil, beautiful memories to hold close forever. The Shelley family.

  7. What a humbling experience to have shared Neil’s farewell today with so many friends through live stream. It has been so uplifting to hear the amazing stories of experiences with Neil and particularly to hear that he even made an impact at his retirement village. Not a surprise of course, just truly inspirational. I too have many lasting memories of a great friend and I will miss the opportunities to meet up and have a laugh over times past. My sincere condolences to Jenny, Kellie, Adam and your families and friends. We will all miss Neil but we are privileged to have known and loved him.

  8. Neil ,
You have inspired so many people as you helped us on this wonderful journey of ballroom dance.
You are loved and remembered always
    Dinah

  9. Watching this Memorial Service brought back some absolutely beautiful memories. We would travel from the Gold Coast to compete at the Australian Championships at Broadmeadows, (This was back in the Seventies!!) and the highlight was staying at Neil and Jenny’s place and having lessons from Neil at Granada Studio. Neil was the absolute G.O.A.T. (greatest of all time). You will be missed Neil.
Thinking of you Jenny, Kellie and Adam at this time.

  10. Neil, you loved by so many! As you said to me some years ago, ‘Thanks for your friendship’. Farewell xx

  11. A perfect service celebrating the life of a great man! He will live on in the lessons I teach my kids from what i learnt from him.

  12. What a fabulous service! It was wonderful to hear stories I didn’t know and to be reminded of the lovable character traits that I did know.
I’m sure Neil would have hung around for his final exhibition and would be well satisfied.
A great life lived to the fullest

  13. Neil was so much more than a teacher, mentor, friend and examiner to us. He played a significant role in our dancing journey, guiding and encouraging us through our own medal examinations and later supporting our students as Dance 4 Life grew from an idea into a thriving studio.

One of Neil’s greatest gifts was his ability to make people feel capable. He was always warm, generous with his time and knowledge, and genuinely interested in the success of others. No matter where we were in our journey, he offered encouragement, wisdom and support, and he always believed in what we were trying to achieve.

As both dancers and business owners, we owe Neil a great deal. His guidance, expertise and unwavering support helped shape not only our development as dancers, but also the way we approached teaching and building our studio community. He was instrumental in helping us grow both personally and professionally, and his influence will continue to be felt through the many students whose lives he has touched.

We feel incredibly fortunate to have known Neil and to have learned from him over so many years. His kindness, professionalism and passion for dance left a lasting impression on us, and we will always be grateful for the role he played in our lives.

Neil will be deeply missed, but his legacy lives on in the countless dancers, teachers and studios he inspired throughout his lifetime.

With heartfelt gratitude and fond memories,

    RJ & Ali
    Dance 4 Life

  17. My heart felt condolences to Jenny, Kellie, and Adam, and families, for the loss of Neil. He was a great inspiration to the ballroom dance industry, and the greater dancing family as a whole. From the early memories of my family, at Strettons, where they both danced in their younger days, to myself getting to know him, lean from him, and later having him Judge for my studio, it has been a long connection with the Gray family, that will not be forgotten.
Sending thoughts, prayers, and hugs on a day that is never easy. Have solace in the fact that he touched so many lives, so many memories that were created, and that he will never be forgotten.
    Shane xoxo

  22. Our wonderful Neil, we both send you our condolences to Jenny, Kellie & Adam (Harry the Horse) Ray always had great nicknames for everyone. I’ve (JR) spent many years listening to stories that these rascals got up, never tiring with another telling. Chuckling at anything that the 3 Amigos got up to. We’ve got the photo of them in our bedroom/office when Ray opened this new Studio and on the back another photo that was taken about 10 years ago. We both loved you deeply Neil, you’ll always be in our hearts. To use Ray’s saying: Till we meet again. and I just send my love to you all, forever. God Bless and stay safe. JR & Ray.

  23. A dance lesson with Neil was always a privilege – his patience, his knowledge and enthusiasm and spirit for dance (even with someone with little coordination) made it a delight to learn from someone who inspired so many to be better people, not just better dancers.

Heart felt condolences Adam Kellie & Jenny.

    Vale Neil.

    Love Simon Alison and Elliott

  24. My sincere condolences Adam Kellie & Jenny, I had the great pleasure of being trained by Neil & Jen, both remarkable people.
It is a great loss to the family and also to the dancing profession,
Neil has done so much in a lifetime, and I was proud to have met him.
I wonder if he will catch up with Fred Barber and continue the ADS up there!
My best wishes to his family

  25. I would love to be able to see Neil’s service on line, my handsome cousin who I loved very much.

  26. Legend in dancing – spent many Sundays there waiting for Lorelle to have lessons and training for other stuff

  27. Thank you ladies, Kellie & Jenny
Will need the password for livestream from you.
    Condolences to you all.

    Warm Regards, Julie Wilson/Walsh
