  1. RIP beautiful man.
Paul taught me a lot about people, life, kindness and love. We made many good memories, one of the best was when I first introduced him to dancing and we spent many hours learning Latin and rock n roll together. He became far better than I ever would.
Deepest Sympathy to Vicki and all the family

  2. Paul was a much loved and respected member of the EMR team at Western. I never once saw him without a huge smile on his face, and seeing his furry friends climb onto his shoulders during Zoom meetings cheered me daily! He will be missed. Thinking of you, Vicki and all of Paul’s other loved ones. Rest in peace.

  3. Paul was a much loved and respected friend to everyone on the EMR team at Western. I never saw him without a big smile on his face and a willingness to lend a hand. He will be so very missed. Thinking of Vicki and all of Paul’s other loved ones. Rest in peace.

  4. A beautiful service which painted a loving full life of which I was a tiny part. Thank you Paul for once more fulfilling my dream of dancing with a dream partner, so fluid, encouraging and with style. Thank you Vicki for sharing this wonderful man on the dance floor and for your welcoming friendship. Love always Fran Hartz

  5. A beautiful service and tribute to Paul. Thank you for sharing your little bit of paradise with us, Paul – we don’t know what it will be like now without you close by, sharing a story and a smile now and then over the fences. We will all miss you – Jayde, Tietse, August and Emil.

  6. Deepest sympathy to Vicki and all of Paul’s family and friends.
I worked with Paul at Western Hospital from 1997-2013.
He really did have a big impact on other nurses and doctors who worked alongside him. He had a unique way of being fair and honest to all those he came in contact with. He was always willing to share his views and never afraid to speak up.
I will think of Paul often as I chat to the kangaroos, wombats, magpies and all the wonderful animals that live around me.

  7. The world has lost a kind & caring man who alongside Vicki, loved our wildlife. You may be gone but you’re not forgotten & all the animals that got a second chance at life because of you were so incredibly lucky to have landed at your wildlife shelter.
Thank you for all you did for the local community and thank you for being you.

  8. Vicki, words are not enough. Though I didn’t know Paul really well, he was always friendly and helpful with a big smile whenever you met him. He was a caring person, evident in the way he cared for his beloved wildlife and other animals. A person who cares for animals that much is a good person. He was always ready to help if someone needed help, his whole life seems to have been spent caring for others and animals. I know it will be so hard for you Vicki, you two were the perfect match; when dancing you flowed together, your dancing was a beautiful sight. Take care xx Glenda

  9. Many happy memories of our time in St John Ambulance along with fellow conspirator Paul Groves.
A good bloke gone far to soon

  10. My name is Catherine and I am a nurse who worked with Paul at Western Health from 2013-2016. All of the nurses who spoke summed him up beautifully. A true gentleman with a real passion for life. My condolences to all his friends and family. Rest in peace Paul. xo

  13. A beautiful service and lots of memories I will cherish forever. A great friend that was taken too soon, I was’nt ready to say goodbye just yet, he can keep dancing in heaven now . Thinking of you Vicki, stay strong and I will see you next time I’m in Woodend , love Warrick .

  14. I will smile when I think of you. The world is a better place because of you. The bush is a busier place filled with possums who got a second chance because of your love. I will miss your blue dressing gown and the furry faces that protruded from it. Our easy chats agreeing with each others opinions. A man after my own heart- stopping for every flamin’ thing that looks like an injured animal.
You’ve handed the batton to Vicki- and who better to run with your legacy than your partner in crime. And what was your crime? Being compassionate, caring and bloody awesome. A crime that more need to be guilty of. xxx love you

RIP Paul, it was lovely to connect with you, and to see all the wonderful work you did with the injured wildlife, and to find out we has a love of 2 wheels in common. 27. I am deeply sad that Paul, the very first of the ‘next generation’ for me, has left this earth even before I have. With Paul’s middle names also my own, I am his Uncle David, now 83 and writing this from Wiltshire in England. I have very fond memories of Paul as a toddler in England, and I have in front of me photos of Paul, his Mum, Dad and 3 siblings, just a very few hours before they flew off to their new lives in Australia. We next met in Altona, Melbourne in ’74 and ’75, when work brought me to Australia. for a while. I have particularly good memories from a paddock in Altona, when this wandering Pom taught young Paul and his siblings how to throw and expertly return a (small) boomerang. Since then I’ve occasionally heard a bit about Paul from his Mum, then more recently from my daughter Emma, who kept Facebook contact with both Paul and Vicki. I am very proud of him, and proud that he was carrying my name while clearly gaining so much love and respect. Good wishes to all of his friends who brought him happiness and helped him to have a good life, and lastly a sincere prayer for Paul in his rest. Respect and R.I.P. Paul x

  28. I was so sorry to hear about Paul, and feel deeply and greatly for his family and friends. The times that I had at the robin street flats were, for me, the best times in my life. I will cherish the memory.
    So sad, so sorry.
