  2. Aunty Gita says:

Dear Ravi, Shala, Nili, Romesh and Roshi

As I was on retreat it was a week later that I heard the sad news and watched the last farewell video of Rosemary. I am still thinking of her and of the very happy friendship I had with both your amma and thaththa. Your amma was an extra sister I had when I lived in Melbourne always ready to help, chat or get advice from. Since then we have been in touch wherever we were and finally I was lucky to have them both in Colombo when I got back here. No amount of words can describe her personality, she was such a wonderful person to say the least and memories of her will live on in all those whose lives she touched. Please accept my heartfelt sympathies, and thank you for including me in her story.

    Much love
    Aunty Gita

  3. Thank you to all of the Weeremantry family for sharing and including me in this last farewell to an amazing lady. It was a wonderful service and revealed many interesting sides of Aunty Rosemary that I didn’t already know of. Both Uncle Christy and Aunty Rosemary will live on in my memory for the nice people that they were in life. Their legacy lives on in their children and families that carry on with the same love and friendship. May God bless them all!

  4. Dearest Ravi, Shala, Romesh, Nil and Roshi,
Your Amma was a very special person who was full of joy, got everyone up dancing the baila and a sing song with her piano playing and so generous and warm to everyone she met.
I am so sorry I couldn’t come for the funeral and hope to see all of you over the next few days if that’s possible.
    Love and hugs,
    Tamara

  11. Dear Ravi, Shalini, Romesh, Nilmini and Roshini,
Aunty Rosemary was the most joyous person. I had the pleasure of spending time with her and Judge Weeramantry at their busy apartment in Colombo. She made my days with WICPER so enjoyable with our cups of tea on the balcony. She was a great lady and those and all my very fond memories will be in my heart.

With our deepest sympathy and all our love,

  13. Such a beautiful service. Rosemary would have been proud of her lovely send off. We will miss her trips to London and her cheerful, larger than life personality, especially her laugh. She was loved by all. My deepest condolences to Ravi, Shala, Nili, Rom, Roshi and the rest of her grandchildren/family. May she now rest in peace.

  14. We will miss our wonderful, jolly and ageless friend, Rosemary. As I write this, I remember her sparkling eyes and hear her laugh. Between The Netherlands, Sri Lanka and Australia we couldn’t meet up as often as we would have liked, but the memories are as fresh as ever. We will miss her. Our thoughts and sympathies are with the family she leaves behind.

  16. Beautiful service was thankful we could participate from US . Rosemary was my childhood friend and we spent our youth together such funfilled wonderful days. Your mum and grandma had so many suitors but. Christy won her heart in the end. I married her cousin Bubsy whose brother Eustace married Christelle. So we ended up being family. Dad and mum spent many work\holiday time with us in LA and it was such a joy to have them. Beautiful memories of two lovely people.we spent a few weeks with them in SL and again fun and wonderful hosts. My prayers love . Losing a parent is profound but she gave you all so much love to sustain you through your lives. God bless. Aunty Daphne from Los Angeles..

  30. A wonderful service o celebrate a generous, loving and energetic woman, mother and wife, whose sense of humour was refreshing and inspiring. And she was a patient one too, as she struggled to explain to me how to make lampries and how we would take Ravi home late at home to find her waiting to feed us rice to sober us up. My commiserations and sadness to all of your family at your loss, but I know her spirit will live with you all forever.
    Love Peter
