To Pam, Geoffery, Nicole, Adam, grandchildren, partners and all the family : my deepest condolences to you as you say goodbye to your beloved Mum and Grandma. I wish I could be there in person, I cant due to ill health, but I’m watching from afar, sending love and care from my heart to yours.
Aunty Helen was always the central point of the chat, the one who made sure things happened, who wasn’t afraid to say what she thought and direct the flow of life around her. I always admired that about her: the way she could be both the leader and the heartbeat of any room she entered.
Some of my fondest memories are of Aunty Helen and Grandma, quietly (or not so quietly!) telling each other what to do, their friendship a steady thread that ran through their whole lives. Their bond was so important, and watching them together always made me smile.
I’ll never forget the time I ran into Aunty Helen by pure chance in America Samoa: both of us shrieking with laughter at the surprise, as if the universe had decided we needed one more story to share.
Losing a matriarch, a mum, a grandma, an aunty, and a friend is no small thing. It leaves a space that can’t ever be filled, but I hope you feel surrounded by the love and memories she’s left behind. I’m holding you all in my thoughts and sending warmth, comfort, and so much love as you honour her today.
With all my care,
Sonia
