I clearly remember, as a young guy bring blown away but Hawthorn Timbrel Brigade with Yvonne and Band when they visited Auburn Corps years ago!
It was something that appealed to me greatly and helped trigger my percussion interest and also Timbrel leadership years later!
A good time and great memories of the Army as was then!
Wish I could actually be there on Monday.
Have always admired her leadership and presence!.

Although a very sad time it was a beautiful occasion to be able to join you all for dear Yvonnes final journey to Heaven to see her Lord and of course Wes and Auntie Ivy. Such a pity Australia is so far from England. It would have been wonderful to have been with you.
Auntie Ivy used to come and visit our Mum and Dad every 4 years, a habit Yvonne and Wes took up after Auntie Ivy had left us.
It was a beautiful service with heartfelt tributes from Tim, Ted, Bianca and Dianne.
Sadly this is the end of a very adventurous journey for dear Yvonne but what a journey. Faithful to her Lord right up to the very end.
Please if you feel able, try to keep in touch. It was lovely to meet you when we did make the long journey to Aus and to hear all about you in letters and cards etc.
Don’t forget your “upbringings” . A place at Waverly Temple is now vacant and waiting to be filled. Does Wes’ painting still hang in the building??
The paintings he did and gave us still hang in the bedroom. A daily reminder of dear family friends.
Our love to all the family, from Christine and Bram.
What a beautiful service for such a beautiful lady. When I arrived with my parents at Hawthorn Corps, Yvonne immediately invited me to join the timbrel brigade. At my first practice I found out that the brigade was going to Sydney on the long weekend in March (only a matter of a few weeks away). I knew I wouldn’t be able to learn all 10 marches in that time. But Yvonne assured me all would be fine and committed to extra weekly lessons in my home so I was ready. People saw the creativity, the deportment and fantastic leadership, I saw also a kind and caring lady who showed so much love behind the scenes. My thoughts and prayers are with you Ted, Tim and all the family.
Blessings, Carolyn Williamson (nee Webb).
Beautiful celebration of life for a life well lived. Yvonne & Wes visited me several times in the UK and it was always a laugh with that amazing smile! Lovely to see the photos of the Bryant family when Yvonne & Wes must have visited them too. Really enjoyed seeing the photos of Ted & Tim, as I remember them when the Clarke family visited in the mid-80’s. Ted, you were rocking the John Newcombe look back then (my Mum & my favourite Aussie tennis player)! I still send Tim photos of market fish shops in remembrance of Wes & Yvonne.
Lovely to see the children and grandchildren all grown up now. Brilliant tributes by you all and what I remember most is the way everyone talked about her faith. I was in bits with the final chorus sung by Yvonne at the end. What a legacy! Praise the Lord!
A lovely tribute and so nice to see Yvonne’s lovely smile and laugh in the photos. Lovely to see Wes and Yvonne’s mum Ivy in the pics too. We remember all three fondly from their several trips to the UK. I have a picture of Yvonne with my dad (her cousin) propped up in my display cabinet, taken when mum, dad, my sister margot and I visited Australia 40 years ago. I smile whenever I see Yvonne looking out at me. She and Wes were such fun! We were all amazed at their fortitude when hosting us all for a full month, working all week in the English fish shop but still finding the energy for Wes to drive Ivy’s car and Yvonne to drive her own car all the way to Canberra and back at the weekend then straight back to the shop on Monday morning! Happy memories! And the grand kids now with their own kids! Time has flown! You are all in our thoughts! Simon Clarke (son to Darrell Clarke, Yvonne’s cousin) in England.
Greetings from Warnambool Victoria. I have just watched Yvonne’s Celebration Service, thank you Glenyce, great send off! It was my privilege to be in the Hawthorn Timbrel’s under Yvonne Hanna in the 60’s. When I think of those days I am so grateful that I learnt under the best, deportment, precision, presentation etc., stood me in good stead for my life’s journey. What wonderful experiences we had as a dedicated group of woman, Timbrel Playing, Yvonne, Verse Speaking, Constance Nelson & Singing, Barbara Adcock, a great team who knew their gifts so well, with the ability to teach.
We featured in IMT With Graham Kennedy & often partnered with The Melbourne Staff Band. Thank you Yvonne for your brilliance & character, you made us happy, you made our souls blossom.
Condolences to Ted, Tim & families with our love & prayers. {Tim you were in my Sunday School Class as a little boy}.
Heather & David Cook.
yvonne, keep myself many times on the straight and narrow and out of trouble she was the sister that I never had will miss her greatly.
It was wonderful to be able to share in this celebration from afar. Yvonne looked after me so well when I was in Salvation Army Training College. I too remember her lovely roast dinners, and Yvonne and Wes opening their home for my 21st birthday celebrations.
Dear Ted & Tim,
It was a lovely service and always remember your Mum and Dad being such nice and happy people.
Our thoughts are with you both.
Love,
Graeme & Carol Scott
Well done all. what a wonderful send off to a very dear friend. Janice N.
A beautiful service for a very special lady. Thanks Ted and Tim for sharing her with us. I have many happy memories of my time in her Timbrel brigade and the many times she picked me up for practice. Many of the lessons she taught are still there today. Special times. So glad she is now with her Lord (and her many loved ones who have gone before).
Deidre (ne Russell)
So happy to have shared in this service.
I have many happy memories of Yvonne
Hate to admit I used to babysit those grey haired men.j
Sensational service. Thanks Tim and Ted. Kind Regards, Alex and Don Tapp
I just know Yvonne would have loved that timbrel display – what a beautiful way to honour her. Sending lots of love and peace to Tim, Ted and their families.
Many years have passed since I actually owned a timbres – but so many memories of The Hawthorn Timbrel brigade.
My ribbons are at “half-mast and my thumb is dutifully tucked into my palm!!
God bless you Ted and Tim and your families.
Thanks for the memories

What an amazing lady. I had the pleasure of being in the timbel’s under Yvonne’s leadership. Yvonne always had a beautiful smile and I’m sure she is in heaven with her beloved Wes. RIP

Yvonne was a wonderful support & encourager when John & I became part of the 9:30 planting team at Waverley Temple. I will never forget her excitement the morning we attended Mountain Valley. She loved and served Her Lord & it showed.
Well done good & faithful servant.
I started up at the Hawthorn Salvos in the primary and over my years I would see a person who I did not really know.
I can not remember even talking to her, not even to say hello.
But there is one thing that I do remember and never had forgotten is the lovely smile that was always on the face of the person who I did not really know.
Rest in Peace:
Yvonne Hanna
