Dear Evelyn and Family,
Thank you for allowing us to join you, for this very moving service, to Farewell our wonderful friend.
Alan commenced volunteering at Puffing Billy Railway the same year as me (2004)!
He was one of those rare people whose eyes truly sparkled when he smiled. Never once saw him anything other than pleasant, cheerful, dedicated, courteous and helpful. Even during ‘extra busy’ times. It was an honour to know this treasured gentleman.
Alan will certainly be missed by many. Sending you strength, during this difficult time. Kind regards, From Fleur.
To dear Evelyn and family,
What a beautiful and moving service. So sorry we couldn’t be there in person, but so glad that technology allowed us to watch the service from afar. I am so proud of all the family coming together during this time. Alan was a very special man and was so loved. Sending hugs and love to you all from afar. Xxxxx

Always a good friend and a mentor. I have known Alan since joining Boronia in 1968. Kept in regular contact when he went to Bayswater to start up the brigade there and he came back to Boronia as Day firey in 1973. He came back to Boronia as an SO and stayed with us until he retired. He remained very active with Bayswater since he retired from the staff. He always offered a friendly greeting and would talk about the old days.
Always will be sadly missed.
RIP Honky.
Deepest Sympathy and Condolence to you Eveleyn and to your family. I have known Alan for many years through the Knox Historical Society and through the Knox City Council’s City Pride Committee on which we both served. We have lost a great friend.
I knew Alan through Puffing Billy doing Fire Patrol duties with me. The service was excellent. Rest in peace, will be missed greatly. Sincere condolences to Alan’s family.
Alan was a big part of my Bayswater Fire Brigade days, his constant smile, joking around and caring attitude will stay with me always, he has never been forgotten and never will be. RIP Alan, a wonderful man.
Alan was one of the treasures I found in the CFA. He was always so helpful, never critical, and was an absolute delight to be associated with. Always ready to have a chat, always ready to provide some advice and always ready to listen to a problem. It has been my great pleasure to have met and known Alan and he will ne missed for his knowledge and experience but most of all because he was just a real good bloke.
Alan AFSM was a very special person and has been an absolute inspiration to so many. Alan’s involvement to the CFA was a love, a commitment and a major part of his life. There are so many of us that can say thanks to Al for his ability to pass on his operational knowledge to all of us.
Thanks Alan, a true professional and a community minded person that volunteered his life to help others.
Great memories of a great leader, a person.
Thanks for your great efforts for Bayswater. I remember the day in early 2000 when you urged me to “do something” to revitalise Bayswater. You then joined in the efforts.
