  1. Brendan and I first met in high jump competition around 1957-58, him for St Bede’s and me for De La. I can’t remember who bested who over several years but, in these circumstances, I declare him the winner. On a Thursday night at the RSL we often reflected on our declining athletic abilities, and admitted that we could not jump three feet each to add up to the six feet that we could clear individually in earlier years. Now he has taken the big High Jump before us and it leaves a hole in our lives, as the death of anyone close to us always does. If Brendan was watching his own funeral, he would probably have remarked that there were quite a few older people there! He could be both humorous and philosophical about such things. He was a good man. My condolences to Anita and to all the Condon family.

  12. Dear Rachel and Peter, Anita, Lucinda and Simon,

Brendan’s funeral was a beautiful testament to his life. I thought that Tom and Lucinda conveyed his story with gentle humour, sadness and love. A great selection of music provided an emotional accompaniment to all the photos of Brendan and his loving family. Whilst we could not be there, bearing witness to our friendship with Brendan in this way was very much appreciated.

Love and condolences to you all,

  39. If men were measured by the love of their family, Brendan Condon would have been a giant. I imagine the Southern Cross shines a little less bright now without him in the world. Love to all the Condons. I will forever be grateful for the time I got to spend with Brendan.
