To Mary and Daughters,
The reason for this comment is that my 27 year old Grand daughter is staying with me at the moment and she has just put together one of Dons Cubby kits that I purchased from him when he was working with our freelance art group Millswyn Advertising Artists. It was just before he started teaching at Caulfield Tech. I put his name into google and sadly found that he had just passed away. I knew Don from when he worked at Herald Gravure, then at Fletcher Jones as their Art Director, then at Paton Advertising and then with Roy Burslem and then he came to freelance with us for a short time before teaching. I have a photo of my Grand Daughter inside the Cubby Kit that I’d love to send to you if you can forward me an email address. I have just watched the service and found it very moving. Regards Gordon Bird
Thank you for allowing me to be part of Don’s funeral by livestream. Coincidentially, I worked for the LCC with Dr Mick in the late 1980’s as graphic designer. Lovely to find that Don and him were friends.
Don was lead lecturer, final year when I was a student.
Again, farewell Don
