A truly lovely and heartfelt memorial to a wonderful, loving gracious man. I, too, remember his love of birds and in particular the time I took Mum to visit your parents at Mt Helen (after Dad died). I was amazed at the generous handfuls of grain Uncle Dick would liberally sprinkle over the driveway and then call in all manner of birds for “dinner”. During the same visit he was lamenting the hilly terrain and we witnessed his eye-popping, highly-angled mowing efforts on the ride-on. That same visit they introduced Mum & me to “Dancing With the Stars”. I remember that show being a highlight of their week and keenly axnticipated. I really enjoyed the photos you selected and one of them reminded me that Uncle Dick and Aunty Libby were actually visiting with Mum & Dad in Brisbane on the night Brian & I announced our engagement. A very happy accident! We send our condolences to you all as you grieve for a deeply-loved, gentle man with a tremendous legacy – Lyn, Brian, Rachael, Lio, Tessa and Kurt xx
Dear Anne, Margaret, Peter and James,
My thoughts are with you at this difficult time. Thank you for inviting me to attend Uncle Dick’s memorial and making it available to watch it online. The photos are beautiful and the music evidence that he was a true romantic. He wrote me a lovely letter when I sent him some of my poetry and I will cherish it always.
With love,

Dear Anne, Margaret, James and Pete,
Thank you for the privilege of being able to share this most beautiful Memorial with you online. Hearing you all speak and seeing photos has brought back many very happy memories of time spent with you all in Melbourne and Ocean Grove. Chris and I had the great pleasure of having your parents visit us in Tewantin when our children were young as part of a campervan holiday they had in Queensland – perhaps just before or during the time they lived at Mt Helen, I’m not sure. But they were so relaxed and very much enjoying their travels, and we greatly enjoyed their overnight visit – a small opportunity to repay all their loving and very generous hospitality over many years.
It has meant so much to be able to join you online today, I am just sorry that I wasn’t with you in person.
With much love and deepest sympathy from Chris and me to you all as you grieve the loss of your loving and much-loved father and grandfather.

Dear Peter, Anne, James and Margaret,
I just wanted to pass on Mark and my love and thoughts at this sad time and hope that today is a chance to reflect on all the happy times you had with your Dad. I certainly remember Uncle Dick as a kind and wise uncle and appreciate the time I got to spend with him and Aunty Libby as a child. I remember on one occasion when we visited your parents when I was quite young, Aunty Libby had made such a big effort to go an buy delicious fresh raspberries and served them with cream, something I had never experienced before and to this day remember as a very special occasion. I was so impressed by the care and effort they put in to making our visit special.
Wishing you much love
Clare, Mark, Olivia, Juliet and Aaron Le
