  1. Thank you so much for the opportunity to share Bert’s memorial service. He was such a cheeky uncle. My thoughts are with you, Jisca, and my Ekkel cousins who I haven’t seen for way too long.

  2. Thank you so much for creating this for family and friends that could not be there. Our thoughts and prayers are with Aunty Jisca and family. We love you all and are thinking of you constantly. What a lovely service.

  3. I am very thankful to have many photos and videos of my siblings, parents and grandparents and other relatives because I was blessed to have an uncle who was such an accomplished photographer and sound technician, whose skills were passed down to many family members and friends. The video of my twin brother Paul and me as babies which Uncle Bert showed at our 21st birthday is so precious

  7. It was great that Gerald and I were able to watch the service while sitting in the car park at the cemetery, with one eye out the window seeing you, but being able to see and hear everything as well. A lovely God-honouring service for our dearly loved uncle.

    1. I agree Greg, we have been comforted by the many comments and have read them all out to Mum. We also have enjoyed looking back on the service. What a spectacular Autumn day we had. Dad would have loved the service, the birds, family around and the technology that allowed so many family and friends to participate.

  12. Dear Tante Jisca, Ron, Mariska, Greg and Michelle, and your families,

It was beautiful to be able to witness Uncle Bert’s funeral service, even though it was on line. I would so much have loved to be there too. It is so comforting to know that Uncle Bert belongs to Jesus and is now with Him in heaven, beyond all ill and suffering.

I know funerals are hard and I share your sorrow as you have farewelled your husband of 62 years and father of 60 or so years. What a blessing Bert was to so many. I pray that the comfort and peace of Jesus, who knows our weakness and grief intimately, will be your strength and hope as you move on from this day.

It was a joy to see you there and to recognise in you so much of your Dad’s character. I’m proud of you and your steadfast love for him, especially over these past years when his health was so compromised and over the past couple of weeks as you spent those last precious moments with him.

I look forward to an opportunity to meet up with each one of you and to reminisce too. It’s hard to be far away at a time like this.

Much love from Paul and Janice.

  13. So blessed to share this day with family. Uncle Bert ‘s influence on fancy gadgets on our father was very persuasive. Loud or should I I say LOUDER music beamed out of our home when he visited. His legacy continues within the most beautiful family photos of our family taken by Uncle Bert.

  14. It is with great sadness that we watched the memorial service on youtube, of Bert’s passing. For us Garry and Lin it was an opportunity to be involved with the family’s remembrance of Bert’s life although we are presently isolated in Sydney due to covid 19 restrictions. To our sister Jisca and all the family, our thoughts and memories go with you, as you readjust your lives without the ever present input of a husband, father, and grandfather to support you. So from your family in absence, Garry, Lin, Jessica, Spencer and Chloe, FARWELL brother an uncle Bert.

  15. Thanks for the memories Uncle Bert. Loud Hi Fi systems , even Loader cars , great road trips. Now with our creator, see you again in a while, but not to soon.
Love to Tante Jis and the whole Family.

  17. Thanks for the opportunity to farewell a friend. My prayer is that all who read this will realise how important it is to know the Lord, while there is time. Our love goes to Jisca and we pray that she and the family have and will find strength that overcomes any sorrow.

  18. It was such a privelege to be there “in person” to see my friend being farewelled, and to share the emotion with Jisca, Ron, and Greg.
Thank you so much for your invitation.

I am looking forward to the remembrance service later in the year and meeting with you all
    again.
    Cheers
