“Death is nothing at all. It does not count. I have only slipped away into the next room. Nothing has happened. Everything remains exactly as it was. I am I, and you are you, and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged. Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by the old familiar name. Speak of me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is absolute and unbroken continuity. What is this death but a negligible accident? Why should I be out of mind because I am of out sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just round the corner. All is well. Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before. How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!”
To Pam, Priam, Shohan, Michelle, Eleanor & Sophia. Our deepest condolences to you all. Gony will be with you always.
Love Sam, David & Rohan Williams
A beautiful farewell for a genuine human being who had a positive influence on all who knew him. Sending our deepest condolences from the Stewart family.
At this time of grief, sorrow n loss,
we extend our heartfelt condolences to Pam n the bereaving family. Our heart cries with yours
As we mourn the loss of our beloved Gony, we have to admire his resilience n strength in all his endeavours.
His tool shed displayed what a tough n hardy labourer he was.
His jovial n happy spirit was always there when we met. Sadly his strength and fortitude was put to the test, as pain n disability took a final hold on him, that, took him away from us.
It is with a heavy heart, we say farewell to our beloved Gony.
LET US PRAY
Almighty God, Father of all mercies and giver of comfort, deal graciously,
we pray, with those who mourn, that, casting all their care on you, they may know the consolation of your love in times of sorrow n pain.
Amen

From the Arumugam Moodley family of Kenville, the Ganas/Tipee Naidoo and the C K Naidoo families of Tongaat
It is with sadness that we pay tribute to Gony a dear dear relative who grew up in Kenville, completed his high school education in Tongaat and graduated from the University of Natal in South Africa.
In his teens, Gony coached by his brother in law in Tongaat was a keen flower/vegetable gardener and fisherman. He was an absolute gentleman and showed the highest respect for family and friends and was in return highly respected by all that knew him
Gony was a perfectionist, with genuine energy and always positive, he made sure he developed his skills to the fullest before he took on a task. There was no task too difficult for Gony and he always pushed boundaries. He was a wonderful role model to his peers and younger relatives and friends. He was an extremely keen sportsman, excelled in athletics, played league football with Kenville United and played most other codes of sport with great success.
He would often pitch up in Tongaat having cycled from Kenville on a rather windy under-developed 50km road to join the families for Sunday lunch. Likewise during Deepavali he would not fail to visit the families in Tongaat and generally announced his arrival with loud firework bangs. Gony loved nature and the outdoors and taught many of us how to appreciate and explore the unknown.
During his university years, and including during his career as a High School teacher, Gony was a keen political activist and made a contribution in the difficult late fifties and sixties to South Africa’s eventual freedom.
Gony took up a teaching post in Zambia in Africa in the late sixties, where he continued his quest for perfection and completed numerous post graduate diplomas from business to acquiring a pilot’s license. His visits back to South Africa were always well received and the youngsters were never short of presents from dear Uncle Gony. He had an amazing ability to mix with both the old, always with the greatest respect (akka and Anna), and the young and displayed complete humility with people of all backgrounds.
Many of us relatives from South Africa cherish the well-received visits to Gony & Pam in Wollongong when the bonds were instantly rekindled with wonderful remembrances of our younger days. Gony made many visits to South Africa following his departure to Australia and always made a point of visiting most relatives. Gony and Pam’s last visit to South Africa was in 2015 and a wonderful family gathering was hosted by Preggie his nephew with some lovely photographs of Gony on the dance floor.
Pam, Shaun, Priam and your wonderful families, Gony/Dad was an amazing relative and friend and a special soul. On behalf of the families in South Africa we gratefully thank you for having taken such wonderful care of Gony over the many years and we, all with wonderful memories, and heavy hearts, grieve with you at having to say good bye to Dear Gony/Dad.
May the lord guide his soul to rest in peace
