  4. Deepest Sympathy and condolances to Christine, Renee, Carlee, Barry and all who were lucky enough to have Gordon in their lives. He was a really decent human being and a great bloke. I was really proud to tell people he was my Uncle when I played lacrosse, even if he did put me in the penalty box a few times. Lol. No special treatment for family, which just shows how quality his umpiring was. You always complimented me on a great game and gave me tips afterwards which I was grateful for You were respected by all clubs, players, young or old and I was lucky to have such a great role model growing up, with his genuine sense of sportsmanship and passion for the game, but I was even luckier to call him my Uncle Gordon. You were a much loved friend & cobber to all, a great Dad, Husband, brother, Uncle ,cousin, Son, top notch Referee and a fair dinkum good sort. Love you Cobber. Thanks for the great memories. Rest in peace mate. Love always your nephew Jason Elder & Jessica Olivia. Xo

  18. So so so special… I realise so much of what I appreciate about Renaye (and really all of you, Carllye, Christine, and the new generation in Zoey), started with Gordon. So much love and hugs for all of you. Anyone would be unfathomably lucky to get to the end of their lives and have these things said about them – and by such incredible, lovely people. All the well wishes. Here for you all however I can be.

  22. Gordo
    Gordo—what a man, what a mate,
A bloody legend, we can’t replicate.
    – ‘was a gentle giant, a heart of gold,
A spirit warm, always brave and Aussie bold.
What a character, like no other known,
In every laugh, his kindness happily shown.
Full of “Swinny” life, a spark, a flame,
Even with a tipple, always the same
    Calm, collected, steady and wise,
Just a glint of mischief in those wistful eyes.
It continued on the field, he gave us his all,
In lacrosse and playing, always keen with the ball.
    A leader, a mentor, a guiding light,
And surprisingly when umpiring, he said, always right.
But more than sport, he lived for his kin,
A family man right through, thick and thin.
Loyal, loving, proud Christian and true
A role model to all in what we do.
Now as the final whistle gently blows, his messages told
The world is better for his presence, a beautiful soul.
Shades of joy, of strength, of grace
Heaven now most worthy, his rightful place.
To the end so strong, too great to pass, too bright to fade,
Gordo left in our hearts, his legacy’s laid.
We will remember you, mate—always proud,
Your life a hearty cheer, forever loud.
Eternal love from the Universe around you mate
    Le
