After watching the service online, if you can leave a guest message to let the family know you have joined into the service, that would be greatly appreciated.
What a wonderful fun filled, exciting and adventurous life you have all shared together. You have made many very special memories to treasure for a lifetime. An incredible journey filled with much joy and happiness. My sincere condolences to you on the death of your much loved husband, father and grandfather. I do hope in amongst this sadness and loss you find peace and tranquility and know that I am here for you.
To the Wilson family, I was a student with Gordon in Spanish classes in Heathmont. Gordon always enlivened our class with his enthusiasm for learning and his joy of life. I recall he was constantly trying to gain the most points in a quiz in an on-line Spanish language app. There was someone on the other side of the world who would wake up every morning and see that Gordon, in a different time zone, had managed to forge ahead of them. We would often laugh in class with Gordon that he was the thorn in the side of some unknown person who though they could be the top learner on the app – but Gordon had other ideas! My thoughts are with all of you during this difficult time.
Thank you for sharing Gordon during his time as Scout Leader – 10th Croydon LDS Scouts. He was truly an exceptional leader and example to the boys. He always had activities that stretched the scouts and taught them skills that they still use! He willingly shared his time despite a busy life and we will be forever grateful. On behalf of the Group, thank you for your service! Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the family. Till we meet again……..
I remember Gordon Wilson arriving at CGS in 1989. He was brimming with energy and a real standout from the start – even for someone not particularly interested in science. It was inspiring to hear how he brought the same infectious enthusiasm to every other facet of his life.
As the parent of a Camberwell Grammar student who was fortunate enough to attend Space Camp in the USA in 2019, we will be forever grateful for the incredible experiences he had, all thanks to Gordon. His passion, enthusiasm and zest was contagious and the boys loved and respected him for it. My deepest sympathy to the entire family on your loss. He was an extraordinary man and educator who will be missed always.
Mr Wilson was an extraordinary individual. As a member of his tutor group, I can say he genuinely cared for his students. He was a great mentor and played a huge role in forging me into the person I am today! I am forever grateful to have had his guidance during my senior school years. He will always hold a dear place in my heart.
As an CGS old boy, I was inspired by Mr. Wilson’s infectious passion and energy.
Amazing to catch up with him so recently at a Careers night and hear him speak of how working at the school for such a long time had made him feel young and truly alive. May he Rest In Peace.
You shared with us a beautiful and loving tribute and it really touched me.
You are all very blessed to have such fond memories to cherish.
Sending much love to you and your loved ones.
Dear Anne and family, what a wonderful tribute to your beloved Gordon. Thank you for live streaming the service and to everyone who participated and shared memories of Gordon.
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult and heart breaking time.xx
Dear Anne my dear colleague, I am so grateful to hear about Gordon, an amazing husband, father, grandfather and teacher. So sad that it is in these circumstances. Love to all of your family.
To echo many others, it was Mr Wilson’s passion and enthusiasm for science and learning that fostered my own love of science. I still remember him explaining electron orbitals and isotopes in the “new” science block in the 90s, topics that I still use almost daily in my career.
A lovely service that highlighted his many passions and achievements of a life well lived. My sincere condolences to Anne and the family.
A gorgeous, funny, sad, and joyful celebration for a much loved man. Gordon was a truly admirable person, I am pleased I got to know him and have his enthusiasm rub off on me. Gordon and I had almost completed a Science display project at CGS, I’ll make sure the final display captures his spirited love of teaching boys the wonders of science.
Mr Wilson’s expertly crafted slides helped me greatly as a visual learner. His love and passion touched many and serves as a standard everyone ought to aspire towards. He went to great lengths to ensure the best for us, and outside the classroom, I remember thinking deeply as I read his philosophy book recommendation and once bike riding when he cared for my safety. Mr Wilson has left a lasting impact and I will miss him dearly. RIP
I’m so glad to have met you Gordon. I really valued your warmth, friendship and kindness – in the short time I have known you. Condolences to your family and thank you for a lovely service in his memory.
Helped inspire my career in medicine with great classes in chemistry in the mid 90s when I was at Camberwell. Gentle, kind and enthusiastic teacher for me and countless others. It was great to catch up at Careers night just recently where we talked about family, hiking and camping – clearly Mr Wilson’s other passions. Condolences to the family and school community for your loss
Dear Anne & the Wilson Family,
I am very sorry for your loss. I greatly enjoyed working with Gordon during my time at CGS, a very kind man who will be sorely missed.
John
Mr. Wilson taught my brother, Richard, in the early 90’s and my son, Alexander a few years ago at Camberwell Grammar. They enjoyed learning from him, were inspired by his passion for teaching and remember him fondly. My younger son, Thomas, is very honoured to have sung at your beautiful service today and we are grateful to have be part of it via the stream.
Please accept my sincere condolences to you and your family.
What a beautiful tribute to Gordon and his life.
He was loved by all and wil be so sadly missed by everyone.
Take comfort in all the beautiful memories you have.
Traveling with Mr Wilson and wife Anne for the first Space Camp in 2015 was an incredible journey of adventure and discovery. A meticulously well planned trip that lead me to study aerospace engineering, and give me memories that I will hold forever. He was also a great soccer mentor, who was always supportive, and gave me many goal keeping tips. Mr Wilson was an all round great educator, who will be sorely missed.
My name is Simon. I was a student at CGS and was lucky to be apart of Mr Wilson’s Bridgeland tutor group from 2014-2017.
In 2014, in year 9, I was going through a very difficult time, for an entire year of my life it was a downward slope where I wasn’t enjoying anything. Mr. Wilson, as we called him, dropped thousands of senior school test papers and schools reports just to keep me safe. He lit students first over papers, works, anything. He welcomed me into his office and his environment, and made me realise that I was going to be safe and make it to a better place.
The amount of love and compassion he showed to me during that time was incredible. The amount of love and compassion shown at that time doesn’t just inspire me, but a whole future and the next generation.
Thank you so much sir and my best mate for the support and your compassion every single day of our lives. Rest In Peace.
To Dear Anne and Family, it was a beautiful tribute to your husband , father and Pop. I never met Gordon but wow that’s all I can say, what a man of many wonderful attributes and achievements! A beautiful family!!!!! May all the love that surrounds you holds you and may his memories continue to give you joy and happiness. All my blessings Anne, you are in my thoughts, Cath O’Brien
A beautiful service for a beautiful man. I’m sure you all made him very proud. My heart goes out to Elise, Anne, Kaye, Andrew, Brendon, Cameron and all of Gordon’s loved ones ❤️
Gordon was one of the few staff members, brave enough to use the Music staff Common Room during the construction of building works. We became friends, and I am grateful to have known him.
Dear Anne and Family,
I am very sorry for your loss. I greatly enjoyed working with Gordon during my time at CGS, a very kind man who will be sorely missed.

A beautiful service and a very fitting tribute to a fine man who lived a remarkable life. The eulogies by his very proud and fortunate family captured the very essence of Gordon and his many fine qualities and significant contributions. He lived his life to the full and has left his footprints in the sand. Gordon was always so supportive of science initiatives in the Junior School.
May your many special memories sustain you and give you courage as you face live without Gordon.
Ann Beck ( former Head of Junior School at Camberwell Grammar)
What a beautiful, brave family family Gordon has. To our lovely Anne, you spoke so wonderfully about your beloved Gordon, as did all your children.
May God hold you all in the palm of His hand.
Sending love and light to Anne & the Wilson family.
Such beautiful words spoken and so much love shown.
Our thoughts are with you.

Thank you for livestreaming Gordon’s memorial service today. It was a beautiful service and we feel very honoured to have attended and to learn so much more about him. Our boys both went on school tours with Gordon and will have cherished and lifelong memories of him. Patrick went to the Galapagos Islands and South America and Hamish went to Space Camp. My husband and I also fondly remember Gordon’s enthusiasm and devotion, not only to our boys, but all his students. We are so sorry for your loss and send our deepest condolences.
What a beautiful celebration of Gordon’s amazing life as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, teacher and mentor. A life very well lived. May your cherished memories live with you all and help you through this sad time and beyond.
Thank you Mr Wilson for all the years you have taught me Science and Chemistry. You have always made science interesting for me and have influence how I approach problem solving. I remember the passion you had in teaching Science and the fun experiments in Chemistry. I’ll miss the joking banters we had for being in your class again. You’ll be solely missed and it was a privilege to be a student of his. Rest in Peace.
Gordon was my chemistry teacher twenty-nine years ago in Year 12. I remember him vividly. An absolute gentleman, a wonderful communicator and he always went above and beyond to help his students.
Mr Wilson was an amazing teacher who made it a point to demonstrate curiosity and passion in everything he did. I was lucky to have him as a role model as a student and also after graduating. Thank you, Mr Wilson.
Mr Wilson is a caring and tolerant mentor who is always willing to help all students at any time. Finishing my final year in his Chemistry class is a great privilege of mine, and I have learnt a lot from him in terms of both academic knowledge and ways of life. On the sporting field, Mr Wilson has also demonstrated determination beyond any common man, determined to make the worst soccer team in CGS win a least one match, Mr Wilson has trained on the field with us and desperately used McDonald as bait when we faced against weaker teams. After relentless disappointments, we did indeed win one match of cause during that match the opposition team is down by 3 players.
Thank you, Mr Wilson, It is probably too late now, but I wish to say thank you one last time to you, you are a great teacher and a greater man, from you I learnt that everything is possible if you give everything you got.
Dear Anne and family
please accept sincere condolences to you and your family

One of the most positive energies in the classroom and was an inspiration to everyone around him – we should all aspire to live life with the same ardour and love as Mr Wilson. RIP
My son had Mr Wilson for Science last year and was doing Year 11 Chemistry with him this year. We pass on our condolences to your whole family. My son said he was the most passionate teacher in the whole school.
Gordon was one of my favourite teachers at school and his light hearted style of teaching (who can forget his INXS joke while teaching titration) combined with a solid treatment of the material made his chemistry classes some of the most memorable I had at school.
What shined through for me about Mr Wilson was his compassion and care beyond the classroom. I only had him for just one semester of official teaching, yet I felt like I could approach him with any qualm I may have had. Despite all logic deeming it impossible, he always had time and empathy for everyone. Beyond this, he was an incredible man. Whether it be to watch him in his element or simply talk to and engage with, there was never a dull moment when with him. Through my younger brother I can also vouch that he was a simply superb tutor too. His contagious energy will no doubt stay with us forever.
It was in Mr Wilson’s class that I fell in love with science. He took the time after class to answer my ridiculous questions, and recommended I read several books on science and philosophy. He was the first teacher to give me material to read that was outside of the curriculum. His teaching style and love for education is something I think about often, as I undertake more teaching roles myself. His passion, kindness, and dedication to his students is something I will always remember. It was a privilege to be a student of his.
