I appreciated watching the service again to catch the details of each tribute. From them I learnt more about my father, by the facets he showed to different people! Thankyou to all who attended, viewed from afar or spoke. The celebrant Tim showed insight into a person he had not met but who was in some ways typical, but also an a atypical character from the prewar & postwar period.
RIP Dad. In your expectations of us, you did help form us, your children our values & love of learning.
Having never had the pleasure to meet Ian but through your daughter Denise I feel that I know all about you and as a third cousin of Ian’s wife Alva, we have a distant connection. However listening to the Funeral Service back here in London, England I found the stories of your life very impressive. It was also a greatr bonus to see so many of his family, despite their face masks.

Sorry to lose a good friend and workmate from our long time at Downie Street, and Yarraville.
I did comment to Ian years ago that it was silly leaving home, and returning in the dark, and that a house closer to work would be better, but he just smiled and said that the weekends up in Ferntree Gully made up for it.
