  1. Dearest Jacqui, Ian, Pam, Peter, Georgia, Stella & Flynn,

The sun was shining on your adored Dad & Pa, our Brother & Uncle today, depicting his bright, colorful life!

What a perfect tribute to Ian, you all spoke brilliantly and it was so lovely to listen to all the stories that made Ian’s life a wonderful one. So many memories brought to surface today, which we will cherish going forward.

We will miss Ian so very much, it breaks our heart to think that he has gone and we won’t see him or hear his voice again. We will find comfort in all the precious memories he left us which will live in our hearts and minds forever.

Look forward to the day we can celebrate Ian’s life together, with a G&T, Red wine or scotch in hand (Ginger Beer for Kathleen).

Always here for you all, loads of love & hugs,
    Kathleen, Denise & Peter xxx

  7. Dearest Jacqui and Pamela,
Uncle Ian as we call him was very close to my Dad and as they both had similar interest in Shipping. Uncle Ian had such wonderful memories of Sri Lanka and even up to a few days before he passed on was taking to me about them and also wanting to come again to Sri Lanka for a holiday. His memory was amazing .

We are so glad that in the past few years when ever we came over to Australia we were able to visit him and spend some time with him as well as get all the aunts and uncles all together for a lunch . Those memories we will treasure for ever .

May he Rest In Peace and May God Bless you all in this time of grief.
Goodbye uncle Ian we love you .

Deepest sympathies on the passing of your Dad / my older brother. Our thoughts are with you all at this time.

I am going to miss my dear brother Ian, as it’s been challenging during lockdown to see each other, but our love and Speldewinde family bond remains strong always.

I have fond memories of our days in Sri Lanka growing up, and in Australia, and I thank you for the love and support we have shown each other..

    Love always

  9. Dear Jacqui, Ian, Georgia, Stella, Pam, Peter, Finn

Our deepest sympathies to you all on the passing of your Dad, father-in-law and grandpa.

Our thoughts are with you all at this time, and we send all our love to you through this difficult.

It such a shame we can’t all be together to celebrate the life well lived – wow 92 years old, and was still living in his own apartment until recently.

It’s times like this, that we can say we are blessed for a lovely extended family.

Take care and will be thinking of you all today.

    Love and hugs

    Tam, Graham and Mikalya

    Dear Jackie and pam
So sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. Uncle Ian was a remarkable man who was always full of stories with a highly intelligent and unique view of all things political. He was very interesting company and had memories of Sri Lanka in vivid detail which we loved. Mary and I always enjoyed his company whenever we got the chance to catch up usually at family parties. Mummy (aunty Lorna) was very close to him being the eldest sister in the clan. They were very good friends.
Hope to catch up sometime and celebrate with his favorite drink.

Lots of love and hugs on this special day for you all – from the Vanderzeil family in Brisbane and Victoria – Philip, Mary, Mallika & Attalia, Sebastian & Geneva.

  11. Dearest Jacqui and Pamela
With all my love and God Blessings to you and your families.
I have wonderful memories of Ian when we were children growing up in Sri Lanka, these were great happy times and our whole family would enjoy endless occasions together.
In later years our families stayed close when moving to Australia and the family bond never changed.
Ian loved to talk about our past memories and recalled everything very accurately, what a memory he had and a mind that could remember everything.
I know one time he didn’t like to talk was when he was watching Bold & Beautiful but after we would get on the phone and chat about the show.
Great times and happy memories of our brother, we shall miss him very much.
    Love always Aunty Lorna.

  12. Dearest Jacqui and Pamela,
Uncle Ian was an amazing man with extraordinary talents, a real gentleman with an eye for the finer things in life.
Talking to Uncle Ian was never boring, he spoke so excitedly to people about his life journey, world affairs, uncanny memory for sporting records and of course of his wonderful love for exceptional and beautiful collectibles. Uncle Ian and our Dad were fine discussion buddies and would often have their own banters in the crazy world of a Sri Lankan family gathering, I’m sure they are together now.
Uncle Ian raised two wonderful daughters whom I love dearly and have the most loving memories.
We send you our love and support to you and your families.
    Love always, Pauline & David.
