  2. Such a beautiful service for my beloved sister, Janine. So wonderful to know how very loved and liked she was by her family and so many others. It’s extremely hard to be so far away in England at this time, but we’ll do our utmost to be there for the bittersweet, yet ultimately happy, celebration to come.

Lots of love, always, to Tenno, Tom, Jack and Ella (and Bear).

    Angela and Alan. xxxxx

  3. Plum, you touched and impacted more hearts in your lifetime than most could ever hope to do who lived a full lifetime. You brought joy and laughter to all those who were privileged to have had you as a friend at some time in their life.

  4. I worked with Janine at Melbourne Park. A very long time ago. She was one of the standouts. Friendly, bubbly and always up for a party. We had a couple of Thursday’s at the Rose in Brunswick. Good times! Rest In Peace.

  5. Sending our love to all of Janine’s dear friends and family, especially to Tenno. What a beautiful service with so many wonderful memories of the light and love Janine brought to us all. Working with Janine, she always greeted us with the most beautiful smile that radiated warmth and never failed to brighten your day. This will be sorely missed, but we will carry her memory in our heart and keep smiling.

  11. Dear Tenno Tom Jack Ella & Bear, our deepest to sympathy to you all. What a wonderful service for a wonderful woman . From our school days at Morongo to Tanny’s wedding and then to our wedding Auntie Plum as we’ve called her for years has always been a big part of our family and we will all miss her terribly. We all loved Plum to the moon & beyond! Lots of love to you all Tink & Rob ❤️❤️❤️

  12. I was only in the Functions team for a few years at the stadium but from day one Janine made me feel like part of a family. I’ve never known a more carefree, relaxed person and whenever she came up to check on us, you always felt like everything was okay. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of the service, and to hear some amazing stories. They were new stories to me, but were so clearly Janine that they also felt familiar. My deepest sympathies to all her family and friends.

  13. What a gorgeous service for an even more gorgeous friend. Neens you always lived life to the full, never had anything negative to say and lived life to the full – and more!! I just can’t imagine our old stadium crew catch ups without your bright pink tops and stories! .

She would have been so proud of how today went, exactly how she would have planned it if she could. You all spoke so beautifully, Tenno and the kids, (and Bear too) as she always did of you all. Photos were gorgeous reminders too of all the friends and family who adored her.

Have a wine and boogie for us Neens, will miss your beautiful smile and kind heart RIP luv xx

  14. Janine was such a beautiful, fun loving soul who left us far too soon. We’ll miss coming to work and hearing her amazing stories regarding family, friends, Bear, travel, Thirsty Thursdays, online shopping, etc. The office won’t be the same without Neens and her big smile. She will always be in our hearts and memories. Love Stel & Idz

  15. A beautiful service for an outstanding human. Janine was a treasure. She was so much fun. Sincere condolences to all of her loved ones.

  18. To Tenno, Jack, Tom, Ella and family. Sending love and condolences on the passing of Janine. What a beautiful celebration of her life you all provided this morning and I am appreciative that I was able to view it online. I wasn’t aware that Janine’s birthday, 22 September, is the same as mine, so I will remember and raise a glass to her each year from now on!
Tenno, I hope you can draw on your wonderful memories with Janine to comfort you through your grief and into the future. Love from cousin Catherine Rourke, Paul and family.

  19. Dear Byrnes Family,
My heart breaks for you as you grieve the loss of a very special person.

Janine’s warmth, smile and positive attitude always shone through.
I will miss her greeting of “hi Uncle Pete” as I popped into her office at Marvel to see how she was going. Never did I ever get a complaint, never a “wo be me”. More often that not it was “How are you going”? I always loved hearing about the travels, fun in the sun or how she caught up with her mate Pitchford and how they got up to no good.

My thoughts are with you all in this difficult time.

  20. Janine you will be missed so very dearly, but we are all better for having met you and for being in our lives. Thank you.

  21. I had the great honour to work with Janine at the Stadium for about 1.5 years. We shared a love of travel, books and Mister Zimi. She was the grammar queen and would always proof read the menus before we gave them to clients.

She always talked about her beautiful Bear and her family, Tenno and the kids. She was so proud of all of you.

She had such a positive and infectious outlook on life. She will be forever remembered as a kind, warm and fun colleague that enjoyed life to its fullest.

    Love
    Lara

  22. Janine loved a laugh so read this in your best Churchwillian accent “never has someone given so much and asked for so little in return”

  23. Beautiful service for the most gorgeous Janine. You knew how to live life and have fun in every situation and your smile radiated warmth and a little bit of mischief. Taken far too soon. Rest in peace beautiful girl. Love to Tenno and family. XXXO

  24. Words cant express my sadness at the moment, but in saying that I am so grateful to have had Plum in my life and all the fun and positivity that came with her. She certainly taught us all how to live life to the fullest. A huge void has been left and know in time all your loving memories of trips had, meals and laughter shared as well as numerous “Thirsty Thursdays” will gradually fill that void.

Thank you Tenno, Bear, Alan, Tom, Jack and Ella for sharing this wonderful memorial with us all.

I am off to drink some pink champagne now in Plum’s memory and seriously look forward to giving you all a huge hug when we can…

    All our love and support

  26. So sorry for your loss Tennison and family.
I first met Janine 18 years ago at Roger Stevenson’s holiday house in Ocean Grove. She was sun baking on the back deck with a book in one hand and sauvignon blanc in the other. Her beautiful smile and warm welcoming personality is something I will always remember.
Having just moved to Melbourne from Canberra Janine was kind enough to find me employment at what is now known as Marvel Stadium. I worked there for 10 years and will be forever grateful for that opportunity, thanks to Janine. Janine invited me along to a number of Oakes Day race meetings which she organised with style, was dressed to the nines and the life of the party. She will be sadly missed.

  27. Dear Tenno,
I enjoyed hearing every story today about Janine. Such beautiful memories. Well done to yourself and everyone who spoke. I look forward to being able to see you down the track and sharing some more stories.
The Functions team will truly miss Janine’s spirit everyday we come to work. She was the oracle of all Functions related information as well as my go-to for last minute restaurant advise for date night/anniversaries with my wife – she never got it wrong. I am going to have to be a lot more organised on that front now. I have received kind messages from many of Janine’s clients over the last few days which I hope to share with you soon.
Yesterday our team (AJ, Nikki, Anna, John and I) had an online Thirsty Thursday in honour of Janine. It was our small way of saying goodbye. We look forward to the time when MSL team is able to get together in person to pay tribute to her again.
We are all thinking of you at this time.
    Steven Harrison (Disco)

Beautiful setting and Neens would have been so proud of you all.
I will miss her friendship, her smile and her laughter. She loved you all so very much and spoke with such pride about her family.
I look for to when the restrictions lift that I can come over and join in on the thirsty thursday celebrations in her honour.
    Much love to you all

  33. Tenno,

Watching the ceremony Bridget and I can almost feel your sadness. It is unfortunate that circumstances dictate that we cannot not be there with you in Melbourne. The many happy memories shared with us by you and your family will eventually overcome much of the sadness caused by Janine’s untimely departure from life.

Lots of love in these sad times,

    Roger & Bridget

  34. All love, hope and sympathy to you all at this time of enormous sorrow…all love, hope and joy in the memory of Janine, a dynamic and vibrant presence.
Just a brief word with Janine would delight and warm.
    Warm and sincere regards,
    Kate McKnight-Rundell and Rundell Family

  35. Dear Tenno and family,
A lovely service sharing your beautiful stories of Janine. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Love from Uncle Brian , David, Ross, Regina and Bruce

  36. I have known Janine for about 7+ years through working at Etihad/Marvel Stadium. She would always come and say hello to the client and myself when we had conferences on to make sure everything was running smoothly. I’m going to miss your Janine like crazy. Condolences to all of you. RIP JANINE.

  37. A beautiful service for the most beautiful, warm, wonderful person. We still can’t believe she’s gone and will miss her forever. She made all of our lives better and we were so lucky to have known her. We loved her so much. All our love to Tenno, Tom, Jack, Ella and Janine’s enormous extended family and friends. Love, Paul and Julie

  38. Dearest Tenno and all those who loved Janine,

What a beautiful tribute to a radiant life-force! That she found joy and had fun and loved the children so much shows just what a wonderful woman she was. Their words said it all. I am so glad you had such a big love and will have all those colourful memories and stories to share with the Byrnes clan over the years.

May she rest in peace and event-manage in heaven.

    God bless you all.

With love and prayers and sincere sympathy,

Ann Rennie ( O’Neill) and Fiona, Gel, Rose, Frank, Doe and Matt.

PS. Will take your advice on the mutton-bird!

  39. Thank you for allowing us to share in the celebration of Janine’s life today. I worked with her at Etihad Stadium for many years and she was always a very positive, beautiful person and I enjoyed our wonderful chats about Bear. Love to you all at this time x

  40. A beautiful service for a beautiful person.
She will be sadly missed, particularly her smile.

  41. Dear Tenno and Family,

Janine is one of the most inspiring, caring and positive person who I have ever met and had the pleasure of working with. She sat outside my office for a couple of years and I loved the stories of her trips, drinking antics, hearing about the kids and what to buy them for gifts (all online). She always spoke so highly of them and with much love.

I will remember the last time I saw you together was on a race day on the roof top at Flemington, she may have had a couple of drinks, I was greeted with that beautiful smile and nice hug and a cheery farewell as you were heading out to get something to eat. Always happy, always smiling….Thats Janine.

    Regards
    Michael Kenny

  42. Such a beautiful service, Tenno you must be so proud of your children. They loved her so much as we all did. Susan and I sitting here in our bright pink tops. Sending love and see you at thirsty Thursday.

  43. I was lucky enough to work with Janine for the last 2 and half years and whilst I didn’t know a great deal about her life story I knew what an incredible, strong and inspiring woman she was. Always bringing colour and life to the office through her amazing dress sense, stories of recent holidays and unwavering positive attitude. I thank Janine for the inspiration she has shown me to live a life of fun, adventure and positivity always. My love and thoughts are with her family and friends.

  44. Janine was one in a million stars on earth that I was lucky enough to call a friend.
She shaped how I went about my work days and also how I got ready for the races.
Janine always wanted everyone to be happy, she shied away from confrontation and that meant I always got the tricky clients at work. She made coming to work fun and there was never a dull moment in the office.
My funny memory with Janine was at a work Christmas party where she was dancing and drinking the night away. Of course, Janine fell over…. cracking her head on the concrete. She didn’t want attention, didn’t want care, just her glass refilled. I wouldn’t allow it, called an ambulance and headed to the Service Entry to wait. Oh boy did we wait… she was constantly wanting to go back to the party and kept saying that Tenno would be so mad with her! We called Tenno, he was also at a Christmas party, so couldn’t collect her, but met us at the hospital. Janine was so annoyed with me that I took her away from the party, but we were both a sight when we got to the hospital, Janine in her pink clothes and Santa hat and me in my Mrs Claus outfit, the drunks loved us!
Attending her wedding where she married her soul mate Tenno was one special occasion. She wanted that day so much but not the attention, she walked in to the song ‘Happy’ by Bruno Mars and that is how I’ll always remember her; happy.
    Rest in peace my love.

  45. The service was truly beautiful Tenno. The most deeply moving aspect for me was the lasting impact that Janine had on your three beautiful children. I have never met your children but they are clearly warm, bright, loving human beings. An absolute credit to you – and to Janine for she has clearly had a part to play in the adults they have become. She will clearly live on through them – that is incredibly touching. Sending all my love from sunny Brisbane. Kylie xxx

  46. Beautiful service for the most gorgeous Janine. You knew how to live life and have fun in every situation and your smile radiated warmth and a little bit of mischief. Taken far too soon. Rest in peace beautiful girl.

    ‘Definition of Loving’
Thank you for love, no matter what its outcome,
that leads us to the window in the dark,
that adds another otherness to others,
that holds out stars as if they were first diamonds
found in a mine that had been long closed down,
that hands out suns and makes us ask each morning:
What else do we need, picnickers in time?

Thank you for love that does not hang on answers,
that says, ‘Enough’s enough, to love is plenty …’
—by such signs do we know the world exists,
amo ergo sum, thank you for that.

The miles, the years, the lives that lie between
—they always lay there, and they always will,
but look, the loved one spans that dizzy distance
by the act of being, and we lovers turn
our faces steadily thou-wards as a field
of sunflowers like a tracking station turns,
charting its meaning by the westering sun.

    —Bruce Dawe (1930–2020)
