Thank you to all the Groom Family. I was able to watch the service which was sent to me by Ros. You all were able to give me a wonderful picture of Jill and the way she led her life. As an old family friend I remember Jill coming to baby sit us in Moorabbin when we were quite young. Our mothers were strong women, who met at school, lived through difficult times and who both have past this strength down the line to their children in turn.
I think Jill would have been thrilled with the service. It was so impressive to watch via the video. You have all done her proud! With love Mignon Brind
Dear Richard, Thank you for the opportunity to watch the eloquent and lovely service for Jill. The words of you, David, Matthew, Nicky and Anna were so meaningful and beautiful. The photos were also such a meaningful history of Jill and her love of family. Jill was always a bright light in the room with her smile, her grace, and bright outlook on whatever she encountered. From the minute that we first met Jill back in 1991, she always made us feel welcome and at home. Her love of the arts encouraged us while during our first visit to Melbourne, to take a night to attend “The Phantom of the Opera” while there in Melbourne in order to enrich our life’s in one more way. Watching that show there in Melbourne, pushed us to also see it in New York, Seattle, Washington, Berlin, Germany and Durham, North Carolina. However, none of the shows were as meaningful as the one there in Melbourne. Once again, her love of the arts encouraged us. We also know that people from all over the world are morning Jill’s passing. We pray for peace for you, your children and grandchildren, while adjusting to life without her. While we know that it will be a difficult adjustment to make, it will be one filled with love and many memories precious memories that can never be taken away.
Jill will always missed and remembered in our hearts and minds as well as those of our children, Garyen and Carrie.
With Deepest Sympathy,

To Richard and family, Beautiful service. I found it very moving and shed many tears. Thinking of the great times we had experienced together. Coming through a pioneering time of bringing the joy of dance movement and creative expression to so many people who benefited from it. I loved the main photo of Jill, the beautiful flowers and lovely music – which she would have loved and could have picked for herself. A great eulogy David, and the same goes for everyone’s contribution. I was cut off for a short time only but would like to re-watch if possible – I think the internet must have cut out for that period.
My thoughts are with you all and I will miss her as wonderful old friend.
Jane, thanks for your detailed message. It is greatly appreciated. You can re-watch the entire service by clicking on Watch Again above. I took the opportunity this morning to watch it all from the start.
This was a beautiful service for Jill. My condolences to Richard and his family. It was my pleasure and privilege to have known Jill in recent years.
Beautiful service Richard. I am sure Jill would have been standing there with a smile on her face and would have been extremely proud of her whole family. Sally and I are thinking of you and your family at this sad time but are rejoicing in the fact that we knew Jill.
Regards, Sally and Robert
Jill was certainly a remarkable woman with many life achievements both professionally and in her devotion to her family. We only knew Jill in recent years and would have loved to get to know her better.
I knew Jill through Dance therapy – in fact, she was one of my teachers on the Dance Therapy Certificate. Her work with disabled children was inspirational. In later years, I’ve only heard snippets of news about Jill, so it has felt good to me to be able to attend this service and know more about Jill’s life…and say my own goodbyes.
I send all of the family my sincerest condolences. She was clearly a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother…and the legacy lives on.
Farewell to my friend, Jill – a friend from Nursery School Days at Melbourne Girls Grammar, and whose friendship has continued throughout the years up until a few weeks ago.
There are many memories and photographs. May you rest in peace, Jilly.
