  1. John McLeod was a loved and well respected man who gave everything to whatever he did. A sad loss for his family and Boronia CFA.

  2. John was a very valued member supporter of the Boronia Hawks Nest Coterie Group. John – you will be very sadly missed by us at Tormore Reserve. Thank you for your support of the Hawks Nest, but more so thank you for your wonderful friendship.

  4. Have just watched almost all the service from Fiji.
    Amazing person.
Had quite abit to do with John, 1970’s, early 80’s when I was a CFA Regional Officer, Region / District 13.
The video brought back many memories.

He made a huge contribution to CFA.

  5. John was an amazing role model for not only CFA members but for every person in the community. His dedication and commitment to helping others was endless. He will be sadly missed by all.

  6. John was a true gentleman who devoted so much to the community and CFA over his long service.RIP JOHN you have served the community and CFA with dedication and honor.

  7. How do you express in a few words the contribution a man like Macca has made to the fire services in Victoria. A friend, colleague and mentor for over 40 years, his advice and guidance will be missed. He loved CFA and truly believed in putting the public first. He would say “it’s not about you or me, it’s about them” referring to the Community. As many have said, he gave it to you straight and seldom minced his words but, equally, he was prompt to admit it when he was wrong. He loved his roles in VUFBA and come to respect VFBV. He even respected “those hayseeds” as he called his rural colleagues in the old VRFBV. His passion was Boronia; fire brigade, footy club and RSL in particular.

John rang me last Monday from hospital and we had a great chat. Still able to give some wise words.

Carmel’s and my thoughts are with Trish and the family; as well as the other members of Boronia’s old guard. Thanks particularly to Graeme EllioTT for all the hard work the last couple of days.

  8. A fantastic service for a fantastic man. What a tribute to John. Thanks Trish for allowing the service to be videoed. I’m overseas and was unable to attend John’s service. I had no internet on the day but just watched the whole service today in Sweden. It’s a very tough time Trish for you and your family I know, a big thank you for allowing everyone to share.
