Dear Susanne, Ben and Tony, Callum and Nichaolas,
What a great example Johathan has been to all of us that knew him and he carried this forward right to the end. We were so lucky to catch up with him a few weeks ago. The positive attitude, spirit and courage that he showed was truely uplifting. It was marvellous that he could spend his last weeks with his family so close around him.
Love to you all and rest in peace Jonathan.
Tony and Chris
I have just finished watching the funeral service – I was so sorry to hear that Jonathan had died. I have many fond memories of your time in Burnie and the difficulties you had to deal with. You both handed it all with such grace.
I would never have recognised your two boys (or young men that they are now).
I always appreciated Jonathan’s honesty in difficult times. I know he could’ve donged me at times.
I will keep you and your family in my prayers let me know if I can do anything for you..
Every blessing. Aileen Fitzgerald
Dear Susanne and family
Thank you for the privilege of being able to share with you a beautiful and fitting celebration of Jonathan’s life. We hold you in our thoughts and prayers as you grieve your very sad loss at this time. We have special memories of our friendship with Jonathan at St Matthew’s Mulgrave in 1984/5. Also John has kept special memories of his friendship with you Susanne during your time at St John’s Toorak. With much love, John and Shirley Goldsworthy
Such a privilege to know Jonathan, and an honour to join in this service of thanksgiving for his life. I will remember him for his care and the gentle way he held me and my ministry through supervision. He was definitely one of the good guys!
I was privileged to get to know Jonathan during our supervision training and appreciated his input and ability to get to the nub in any conversation… My sympathy to his family.
Dear Susanne & family,
My condolences and prayers for you all. Thank you for enabling me to share in the service, which did such honour to Jonathan and you all. I couldn’t help but be reminded of the years sharing in the ministry of David and Audrey. It seemed Jonathon inherited quite a bit of David’s integrity and ministry to the marginalised in the years at Richmond. I remember Audrey’s pride in Jonathan being ordained and stories of the grandchildren. Love and blessings, Beth.
A fitting farewell and a fabulous reminder of Rev Jonathan Caleb Chambers many talents, strengths and challenges and how he was able to make the most of it all in the time he had with us.
I have fond memories of his supportive encouragement and conversation after church at St Paul’s Anglican Church in Canterbury and his inspired sermons.
Thank you for sharing your gifts with us all. Godspeed. Sue Ellson
Dearest Ben. So saddened to learn of Jonathan’s death. My love and prayers for you and all your family. It was a privilege to be able to share in his service. Love Viv

Dear Susanne,Jonathan, Callum and Ben and your partners , holding you all close in love and prayers. Physically Jonathan is no longer with you to share the journey of life but you will always carry him in your hearts. His legacy will live on.

Carla and Andrew
The last hour and a bit has been spent with Henrietta, watching this beautiful tribute to Jonathan. His legacy is apparent in his fine sons, and the photographs showed how that legacy was built, with care and joy. He will be very much missed by us all,

What a wonderful service to reflect on what an amazing and special man Johnathan was. He brought so much happiness to all and I’m so honoured to have known him. I will cherish the times I got to visit him between shifts late last year- we had some lovely chats about life and love and how it all comes together for the better.
He was truly the bravest person I know and we will miss him so much!

Dear Susanne, Ben, Callum and Nick
Thank you for the privilege of joining online for this farewell to Jon.
He was tremendous fun to be with at our gatherings in the late 70s and into the 80s along with his school and Sandringham friends. I had not known all the detail of his generosity to so many others. He’s done some wonderful work.
Best wishes to you all during the sad times and for many smiling times ahead as you always remember him.
Jonathan will live on in the lives of all those he so gently and caringly touched in times of trouble and also joy. He was so much help to us as a family. To you, Susanne and the boys, we send our love and will pray that you maintain your bubble of love in the coming months ahead as you go on in life without your beloved husband and father.

JIll and I have been privileged to have been part of this very special Thanksgiving Service for Jonathan’s life … a wonderful priest and friend, who cared so much for the marginalized in life.
My sympathy with you all , our contact with the Chambers family has been over many years , and their support of the Rev Marjorie Mc Gregor has been much appreciated.
Jonathan was an absolute gentleman and a kind and wise man. I had the privilege of meeting him through my work with Anglicare. He was a great listener and a he understood the challenge and privilege of working with those in need. My deepest condolences to your family at this difficult time. “Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam” May his soul be on Gods right hand.
Jonnie Graham
This was a beautiful service, which is a great credit to you all and to the Heritage folk and the video operators. Quite an achievement in these difficult times. Even though we could not be with you, we found it moving, sad but with that sense of resurrection that Jonathan would want us to feel. Callum’s eulogy was one of the best I’ve heard, Nick’s prayer was very moving and Susanne’s words beautiful and courageously delivered. I think Sally saw Jonathan and Susanne as second parents. We will miss him. We look forward to re-connecting with you when the pandemic allows us. Our love to you all.
David and Penny
Geoff and I are deeply honoured to have had the opportunity to meet Jonathan and to have been a part of this beautiful service for a man we know, was much loved and will never be forgotten. Love and warmest wishes to you all.

Goodbye Jonathan. Thank you for all the wonderful chats when you used to visit at the Bayswater office at Anglicare. Your wisdom was profound and I remember how I’d be in the middle of work and I would look up to see your disarming smile, your gentle hello and your genuine concerns and interest in what was happening in my life. It was a pleasure to know you and to catch up with you after you resigned from your position at Anglicare. I was so saddened to know your time on earth had ended. The world needed good men like you.
Sincerest condolences to Susanne and your children and their partners. May you all be strong and take comfort in the life that Jonathan lived

I was so reminded of John when i saw the red sports car in which he’d taken me to the rally! He took me out of myself that weekend. I loved the time with him and then when we formed the Men’s group at St Thomas – he made us think beyond ourselves and together you gave so much to us without losing yourselves.
Chris and I remember his care and strong love.
Stand firm in his love

Thank you for the opportunity to share in this very special part of Jonathan’s journey and in this small way to stand beside those of his family who so love him. Susanne and family..,may you know God beside you even now May courage be with you.
Warmest regards

Dear Susanne,
praying for you and yours at this time. Jonathan was such a remarkable man, a person of wisdom, gentleness, deep insight, generosity. I journeyed with him for a relatively short, but transformative time; such was the impact of his self-giving. May he rest in peace and rise in glory, and may angels attend you all as you say goodbye.

Jonathan’s ministry for 12 years as Senior Chaplain of Anglican Criminal Justice Ministry (Anglican prison chaplaincy) 2000-2012 is still remembered with great respect by our ACJM chaplaincy team, chaplains from other faith groups, and those who work in the Corrections system. He was able to be both a kind and humble pastor as well as a strong advocate for justice issues. We give thanks to God for Jonathan, for out of his “being” came his ministry.
Dear Susanne,
We continue to uphold you all in prayer here at Christ Church. Sending you all my love as you remember Jonathan this morning.
Love Roxanne.
Dear Susanne and Boys ,

Lovely service. Glad to be able to share with you. Thinking of you all at this time. Sally, Peter, Anne
Love Viv

Stand firm in his love

My prayers are with you all today and the weeks ahead. Jonathan was so so generous in his concern for others, and was of great help and support to me among many others in his ministry at St Paul’s. I am privileged to have known him.

Our wishes and thoughts from all at Anglicare Victoria go to you in this time. I have received so many emails from staff on their messages on what Jonathan meant to us here. A fine and generous man whose companionship, demeanour and approach left a lasting impact on many of our staff and clients in his role as both leading the Anglicare Criminal Justice Ministry and then in his appointment as Anglicare Victoria’s first Chaplain.
Regards
Paul Mac

Dear Susanne,
praying for you and yours at this time. Jonathan was such a remarkable man, a person of wisdom, gentleness, deep insight, generosity. I journeyed with him for a relatively short, but transformative time; such was the impact of his self-giving. May he rest in peace and rise in glory, and may angels attend you all as you say goodbye.

All our love to the Chambers Clan! We will miss you Uncle Jonathan.
Love Sarah, Michael, Jedda & Marley.
Dear Ben
My thoughts and prayers are with you today. Condolences again to you and your family.
