Such a beautiful service; brought back memories of Joe. Thank you for making it available so that all those who loved Joe had the opportunity to reflect on what a wonderful person he was. I knew Joe at PRS and am forever grateful that I had that time with him. He is such a wonderful example for all of us: living life to the fullest.
You are all in my thoughts, especially Colette, James and Anya and the Hunt family. You are all so brave. May Joe be with you in spirit, always.
Colette, James, Anya and all Joe’s family in the UK, thinking of you all at this extremely sad time.
Joe was always great fun to be around, he will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
The service was a fitting tribute to Joe, lots of laughs & tears.
The service was a beautiful and moving tribute to Joe and how he lived life to the full! I feel lucky to have had him as a friend, especially when I was at PRS and experienced first hand the Hunt family’s competitive and mostly good natured banter (Joe wound Simm’s up so much one time that he threw a roast chicken at him…and missed), humour, generosity and caring approach to life during my regular stays with them. These are all the qualities that made Joe the great bloke he is and he’ll be greatly missed, but the extremely fond memories that everyone has of him will mean he’ll always be with us!! RIP Joe and you’ll be making up for lost time with your Mum now! Love and Condolences to all of the Hunt and Kerr families from the Logans – Andy, Tash, Noah, and my mum, dad and brother too xxx
Dear Colette, such a beautiful service to celebrate Joe’s incredibly rich life. In the time that Joe and I worked together, and in the many conversations we had about all matters life – and go Saints! – Joe was always talking so fondly of you, James and Anya. A truly lovely bloke and sadly missed. Lots of love.
Have just watched this beautiful tribute to a beautiful, brave, kind and fearless soul. Collette, you are so heroic and strong. All l can do is send my deepest sympathy and love to you James and Anya.
Sending my thoughts to all Joe’s family. He was such a lovely lad and friend at school. Sounds like he grew into a wonderful father and husband. He’ll always be remembered fondly. Emma Barratt x

Such bravery from you all during the service. Thank you making this available for all of Joes friends around the world. Joe was a true great and losing him seems so unfair, but know this, you are all loved and Joe will never leave us. A part of him will live on in all of us.
What a great service to celebrate Joe’s life. He will be remembered so fondly by so many and was a true gentleman. We have so many great memories of our camping trips and will cherish those times. Sending lots of love to Collette, James, Anya and all the Hunt family. Rest in Peace Joe. Lots of love Leigh, Claire, Max, Ruby & Lily xx
Beautiful words from all, Such a privilege to know Joe during his time in Australia, for me he accepted everyone he met and looked for the positive in everyone, I loved his inclusiveness and passion for life. I wish I had longer to know him even better. Matt Cathryn ,Oscar and Alice
Thank you Colette, James and Anya for enabling us to share the service with you. It was a beautiful service for a beautiful man. Bless you all. And, Vickie, you did brilliantly. Thank you as well to all you family and friends for expressing your love and respect for Joe. Still thinking of you all the time, Joe. Love, Dad.
Joe was one of the first people I spoke with when I attended York University back in 1997. He was instantly likeable, friendly and funny. Both myself and Joe joined the football club at University and it was through football, the post match socials and away days that I was given so many happy memories in Joe’s presence. I always loved meeting up with Joe over the years after University to catch up on his life and share in his humour and warmth. He was a gentleman but had an outstanding sense of humour. He was well respected amongst everyone for both the way he treat people and for his level head and values. Today was a lovely service for a truly remarkable man. He will be missed but his legacy will live on through his children and his family and through the precious memories that we all hold of him. Rest in Peace Joe.
That was a beautiful service thank you for being so strong Collette for the children. Joe is proud of you all and was holding all your hands. Love to you all – love Anja x
Bye Joe, you will live on in all our memories. I can hear your laughter and see your smile when I close my eyes. (I think I remember your mum saying you were her favourite) xxx
What a beautiful tribute to Joe. It was lovely to hear such wonderful words and memories from his many friends and family. I especially like the reminder of the goose bite on the bum…
Whilst I was never lucky enough to see Joe in his role as a father it’s clear that he embraced this in the manner he approached every aspect of his life, with huge enthusiasm, fun and love. Thank you so much Colette, James & Anya, and his wiser family, for giving us the opportunity to share in such a special and emotional service. With so much love, Sarah xxx
It was apparent to me even back in 1997 that Hunty inhabited two separate worlds. We at the University of York Association Football Club were one of those worlds and were only really offered rare glimpses into the bigger world that Joe resided in outside of our club. We’ve always respected this fact but I feel that it’s important for people in Joe’s main world to understand quite how much he meant to a group of people who they will never really have got to know.
We are the football club – an institution that not only brings a number of people together several times a year for various social events, but an incredibly close group of friends who have served as major parts in each other’s lives and grown together since our time at university. We can be loud, crass, intimidating and bewildering at times. Hunty was a major player in our club – not on the pitch itself, for that was all over in 2000, but off the pitch where he made a mark for 23 years. 20 years ago, i used a footballing metaphor to describe him. He was the unsung hero in the team who made us tick. Hunty’s presence made a good evening a great evening or a good tour a great tour. He was a fine friend with whom I had much in common. I do regret that utterly raucous social events completely dominate our friendship because I always enjoyed our sober and less frivolous chats a great deal also. In 2015, and again in 2016, and again each year since, I have repeatedly complained of our Football Club Presidents dinner in March, “It just isn’t the same without Hunty”. Well, I was certainly right about that.
RIP Hunty, UYAFC legend. Nothing is the same without you, my friend.
Beautiful service Colette, lots of love to you all.
Sending condolences to Collette, James and Anya, and all of Joe’s family & friends who will miss him dearly.
Joe was a great work colleague who would challenge and drive outcomes, with a backdrop of a good logic and sense of humor. His love of sport and family were always part of our regular conversations.
Thanks for sharing Joe with us – what a great guy.
Sending our condolences to Colette, James and Anya. So very sorry for your loss. I was privileged to work with Joe and we had shared some great times together. Lots of love to you all and take care of each other. xx Liam and Summa Routledge
