What wonderful photos, and eulogy delivered by Tim. Shows what an amazing life Kevin and Elva lived. Thank you for letting me be a part of the service, and getting to know your Dad. My heart goes out to you all during this very sad time of loss. There are clearly many fond memories of your Dad, and in the meantime, what a beautiful, enormous family he has left behind!!

    Thinking of you all xx

  7. Thank you for all your beautiful comments. There may have been only 10 of us at the send off for Dad,but we were all very aware of your presence with us and took great comfort in this.

  8. What a truly lovely service. Many blessings to count amidst the sadness and so lovely Kevin knew you all right to the end. Tim’s words were delivered so beautifully and it was great to hear what a rich life he had; a long and happy marriage, family, interests, work, sports and travel.

  9. Dear Auntie Elv, Jen & Tim, Sue & Andy, Nise & Damien, Rob & Nick, Marty & Noy, and all your amazing kids and grandkids, we send our thoughts to you on this sad occasion of your loss and ours. Thank you for such a wonderful tribute to our beloved Uncle Kev. So much in keeping with the man we knew. And so full of things that we didn’t know! Life at the moment seems very small compared to the life that Kev and Elva have lived together. The service was truly a celebration of life and love, family and goodness, achievement and faith. Well done!

We have just watched the photo montage, and are still smiling from that.

With all our love, John and Cathy Weir, Tom (who tuned in from Mexico City), Elea, Ed and Chris.

  10. What a beautiful farewell for a much-loved person who obviously led a full and adventurous life. It was lovely to hear the stories of many exciting travels and Sue’s prayers were deep and beautiful.
My thoughts and prayers are with all the family.
    Rose Dennis.

  11. Dear Elva, I really enjoyed the service. Thank you for including us. I loved looking at all the photos. They made it as much about you as Kev, which is as it should be.

He did love the prom and we loved camping on those Easter s with the field

  14. Dear Elva, Tim, Jen, Robyn and family,

It was a lovely service. I expect that Kevin would have liked it. Full of depth and meaning and a lack of ostentation, rather like Kevin himself.

Jen, you were very brave and opened the service so well. Tim, that was great eulogy. You did so well to hold it together. What a man he was. I never got to know Kevin really well, but you didn’t have to spend a lot of time with him to get a sense of him. Also, you spoke so warmly of him over the years. I expect there is a lot of him in Jen. Lovely tributes.

There is a line that I read in a book by Victor Frankl once which I have found of comfort when thinking about those close to me that have passed. “There is no surer form of being than ‘having been’;.” Our memories of times shared and of the person remain and are always with us, as if the person is still present but just in another room. Victor Frankl was jewish. We also have an even greater hope for the future, because of our faith in Christ.

  15. Our deepest condolences to Denise , Robyn and the Hine family
    with love and regards,
    George Awburn & Family

So wonderful to hear all about Kev and see and hear how much he was loved! I like your minister – very thoughtful chap. Wishing I could give you a hug right now. Will save it up. 🙂

  18. A lovely service in difficult circumstances. what a great life of love and adventure the family have enjoyed with Kevin and Elva.
Kind regards and sympathy. Sue and Allan Voice
