  6. Matt, I will always remember you as an honest and generous person, who was always willing to share your time and knowledge. I loved your dry humor and wit, it always put a smile on my face. You spoke so highly of your wife and boys, and I know that you will be watching over them, with your cap and sunnies. You will be sadly missed. Fly high.

  7. Your humour, smile and mischievous twinkle in your eye will be sorely missed by all those who knew you. A loveable character gone too soon. Thanks for the smiles and memories watching you and Ben growing up together and all the shenanigans that made us laugh. The best of mates. Heartfelt condolences to Natasha, Connor, Hamish and family xx

  9. Peter, Liz, Natasha and family, a wonderful tribute to a much-loved son, brother, husband and work colleague. The many stories shared along with the beautiful photos depicting his life were an indication of the respect love and affection so many people shared. He was a man to be very proud of, and our thoughts are with you all at this very sad time.

  10. It’s been a pleasure knowing you and working with you Mathew for several years. You were very knowledgeable with many things. I remember going to sites with you on a couple of occasion where you taught me things about underground valves etc., and I thought ‘what a great worker you were, I wish more were like you’. Such a nice guy and friendly. Gone way too soon Mathew, Rest in Peace mate.

  12. Thank you so much for the opportunity to attend Matt’s funeral online. I dialled in from GWW’s Footscray office today as I was unable to attend in person. Matt was a stakeholder in the Network operations team in 2023 for one of my improvement projects. When he was seconded into the Dam Safety role I was so pleased as I knew he would do a great job. We didn’t work together much, but whenever we passed each other in the corridors at work he would always stop for a chat and we would both leave hoping to find a time to catch up soon. We were in such similar stages of life. I myself am 38 with 9 and 7 year old children so I can imagine vividly what his loss means at this stage of life. My best wishes go to all his family as you navigate a path forward without him.

  15. What a blessing to have shared some precious moments with someone who made the world such a better place. Matt, I will always remember the ease in which you could tossed Connor and Hamish up onto your shoulders, and the resulting grins of satisfaction from them. You will be missed and remembered…and reunited again. Love Jennifer Murphy.

  19. Maty,
Gone too soon and will be so sorely missed. An amazing guy who I was lucky enough to be able to spend time working with and studying with. He was always happy to work with and assist everywhere he could.
Family came first for him and when you were friends you were family.
Loyal and friendly and what I would use to describe him.
