  2. Geoffrey and I have had a lot of fun with Judy and Michael over the years, Geoffrey was the second best man at their wedding ,with Digby.
We shall miss him a lot and are happy to have had so much time over the years laughing and drinking his martinis.

  3. That was a really beautiful service. Thank you for making it possible for me to share in it remotely. And I’m So glad that Manda managed an exemption and to get there at the last minute. I in truth only met Michael a handful of times, but through long friendship with Manda I felt like I knew him much better than that.

As always at funerals I learned things. I did not know he was the grandson of an Anglican minister. I knew he loved gardening but I did not know that frogs and butterflies were particular passions.

Wonderful that Min and Jo, unavoidably unable to be there, were so much present too. That was a lovely piece of writing that David read, and I loved the collection of images too.,

I always wanted to see Michael’s garden on the Mornington Peninsula. I never managed it in his lifetime.

  4. Dear Judy, Cathy and all the Coultas family,
Thank you for sharing your precious memories of Michael. We appreciated being part of this special service for Michael.
Michael was a good friend to our father, Brian, visiting him regularly after he had a stroke, so thoughtful and caring to Dad and to Mum (Shirley) a very dear cousin.
We will miss Michael, such a warm and engaging gentleman.
We send you our love at this sad time.

  6. Such a moving ceremony, so fitting for the Michael we knew. A talented, successful, gracious, gentle man, who gave warm and sincere friendship and encouragement for our work within Australia Sri Lanka Council. No one’s contribution could match Michael’s, but his appreciation for our efforts kept us together. There were times of real achievement – especially the sending of two catheter laboratories to Sri Lanka, free of charge,. All credit to Rotary, Phillips and Michael and our team for making this project happen.

    Our thoughts are with you.

  7. A really nice send off to a great guy. I am drinking a glass of ginger beer to wish him another happy journey.

  8. Dear Judy and family,
We will remember Michael for his kindness, his smile and his way to make you feel at ease. We will also remember Michael’s passion for his garden, a paradise for plants, frogs and butterflies, and for his rich collection of stories gathered during his and Judy’s travels.
Our thoughts and love are with you all at this difficult time.

  17. Dear Judy and all of Michael’s family,
We will miss Michael very much. From a young age I remember him rushing into Uxbridge full of energy, warmth, and interest in all of us – particularly his cousin, my mother Shirley Lander (Harper). I remember his speeches and his humour.
Georgie and I loved having Michael and Judy at our wedding at Andrew’s and Sue’s farm near Dumbalk. We also appreciated very much his visits to Shirley and Brian when they were in care at Faversham House in Canterbury – they always enjoyed seeing him. Our love and condolences to all the family.

  20. Dear Judy

Thinking of Michael in the context of the AIIA’s tour of Turkey and Gallipoli where he kindly engaged me as the tour leader. Such a great, enjoyable and productive time was had by all the AIIA members who joined the tour. The friendship between the Australians and the Turks was lifted another notch, thanks to Michael. Wishing you and the family, courage and patience in the coming difficult times.

    Keep safe

  21. Dear Judy and Michael’s family,
That was a truly moving, wonderful tribute to a great man. Oh, the photos and the music…
Michael was a hero of mine; dignified, statesmanlike, intelligent, funny, caring, passionate about everything. He was both a gentleman and a gentle man.
He was a great inspiration in life and business to me…after today I am also further inspired to be the best father and “Pop” that I can be!
    RIP, Michael

  25. I have known Michael for over thirty years, and have long admired his devotion to his family and the many causes and groups he supported. As my brother in law, he helped me move into my unit, set up the garden and always supported my activities. We will never forget his kindness and courtesy to all. We are thankful that Judy has been able to provide his last few years with so much love and care. Sadly missed.
