  4. Dearest Monika

In the tapestry of life, you were a thread
Interwoven with love, in every moment spread

A warrior for justice, fierce and bright
You fought for what’s right, with all your might
Your voice echoed loud, your heart ablaze
A champion for change, in endless ways

  5. Monika’s beautiful family: my heart breaks for you. I first met Monika at the Effective Altruism Conference in Melbourne last year. I only had the honour of spending a week or so with her at both the conference and the retreat. Monika made me feel seen. She was so kind to me and made my experience that week more comfortable and positive. I wish I’d had the chance to get to know her better. Monika stepped out of her comfort zone multiple time during the conference and the retreat to speak about her incredible work for animals. Despite only knowing her for a short time she has had an enormous impact on me. I will hold her in my heart as I move through life and she will always come to mind when I sit down to do any work for animals.

Monika- I am so sorry – I wish I could have hung out with you and talked so much more 1:1. Thankyou for being so kind to me. I am so sorry that you weren’t able to find the peace you needed here. You have and always will inspire me with your compassion and bravery to fight to make the world better. You can rest knowing you made the world so much better in your life ❤️ I will always think of you. At every future conference and retreat, every time I hear of a win for the animals, and every time I sit down to try my best to improve the world❤️

    Love Jade

  6. I only met Monika a few months ago through her animal and political advocacy. But I was so impressed by how inclusive and caring she was and how passionate she was about making the world a better place. She stuck out to me as someone I would like to get to know better and to spend more time with. I’m sad that I will never get that opportunity.

With all the responsibilities of life I find it tough to make the time and space for being involved in advocacy. It was something that I had put on the backburner and was disappointed in myself for how little of it I was doing.

Seeing the way in which Monika went about trying to make change in the world was inspiring to me. She approached things in such a kind, curious and pro-active way that rekindled my belief that I too could help make the world a better place.

    Rest in peace Monika.

  7. I met Monika through the Effective Altruism community at the conference in Sydney last year, and the following group leader retreat. I’m so sad and sorry to hear about Monika.
Though I didn’t know her well, just in the few days I interacted with her I found her to be inspirational in her determination and bravery. She was part of a panel discussion at the conference, and then gave a presentation at the retreat, and also organised a teamwork activity. What she achieved at such a young age was amazing. She was someone I really admired, instantly felt connected to, and wish I could have gotten to know her more.
Thank you for allowing me to be part of the beautiful service. I have donated via your link in her memory.
I’m thinking of you all as her family, husband and close friends, and hope you can find some comfort knowing that she is now in peace.

  8. Thank you for the memories and the light your brought to every day. I hope we can do you proud and honor your memory by championing the positive changes you wanted for everone. ❤️

  9. It is very pain full to accept it. The almighty may give strength to family & friends to bear the loss. Please accept our deepest condolences.
