  1. Dear Leanne, Sarah, Emma and Sebastian, thank you for sharing this beautiful farewell to Noel.

He was a wonderful friend to me at CAE; an advocate and advisor, and a coffee companion of the highest order. His compassion for students experiencing hard times, and his embodiment of a fair hearing meant he was always someone to trust. We exchanged family stories, and your names are familiar to me, along with the warmth and humour that accompanied all tales of your doings.
I lost contact with him a couple of years back, much to my regret, but treasure my memories of more than 10 years of friendship.

Such a fitting and lovely tribute to Noel. His presence was felt by all of us and he will be greatly missed. You are all in our thoughts and hearts at this sad time but we know Noel

  5. Many happy memories of cousin Noel when we were kids. Playing cricket in the backyard at Ascot Vale and Noel coming to the farm and staying with us – helping us sow a crop. But after hearing all that he had done in his life we felt that we didnt know him at all. What a life well lived. Our sympathy to his family, Joyce and John and family.

  6. Dear Leanne, Sebastian, Sarah, Emma, Joyce, Cameron, Kylie, Dad (John), Stephen and extended family,

Well done on a fitting and quite special tribute for Noel. The reflections captured the essence of a wonderful man who was respected, admired and loved by many.

    Love,
Matt, Kathryn, Alexandra, Liam and Cameron.

  7. Dear Sar, Em, Seb, Cam, & Kylie,

Such a lovely celebration of a beautiful man. So many wonderful memories shared. Mr Fitz was a great Dad, grandfather and friend. I’m so sorry for your loss, he will be fondly remembered and very sadly missed.

  9. Seems I have inadvertently hijacked the tributes, as my computer kept making it look like nothing had happened. I hope you are able to pick the one you like the most and delete the remaining 10!

I’m blaming Noel for the glitch!

His way of having the last word with me. 🙂

  10. Dear Leanne, Emma, Sarah, Sebastian Joyce and families,

A beautiful service and tribute to a wonderful and much loved man. Your reflections definitely captured Noel’s essence, his warmth, generosity and genuine nature. I was so blessed to enjoy Noel’s friendship and kindness. He will be dearly missed and always fondly remembered by the Lay family.

Thank you for sharing today with us. Sending love to you all during this very sad time.

  11. I will miss Noel’s cheeky updates from HQ, interrupting my work with saucy pics of our favourite politician and her boyfriend, beers, chips and a grinning Paddy, his partner in crime for this particular activity. Will also miss enjoying the fruits of his foraging trips to DJs and sunsets on top of the world.

Voleak also sends her love from Cambodia. She will never forget being able to wave down at the chief of the village on her very first trip to another country, while enjoying a roast dinner big enough to feed her entire home town.

Today’s service was a beautiful tribute to a great man. Love to you all, Kylie

  12. What a lovely tribute to Noel, and you all did such an amazing job.
We’re sorry we could be there to support you directly, but we wept alongside you – and we laughed!

  29. Mr Fitz,
The Beers at HQ’s won’t ever taste the same without you, but rest assured the laughs we shared over stories, jokes and extravagant tales won’t ever be forgotten. My social calendar now has a gaping hole but the memories will ‘sort of’ fill that.
Thanks for being a great mate Fitz’

We’ve joined you at least in this way, and wish we could have been there. We were very moved by the service and reminded of so many of Noel’s warm qualities and good times and, yes, the absolute strength of his family commitments and kindness.

Brian: He was such a major part of my life and I can’t quite believe he’s not there at the end of the phone, with a joke, a story, an update on family and Leanne and then the business of our shared sporting interests. Noel was such a great friend. I will remember always .the wonderful times we shared.
