A great tribute to a wonderful man. On behalf of the Headlie Taylor Header Museum, the Taylor Family, and the residents of the little town of Henty, we send our deepest condolences to Holly, the family, and all those who know and will miss Paul. I had the privilege to work with Paul, where he gave 110% to creating the sculpture of Headlie Taylor at his anvil. Nothing was too much trouble for Paul as he created public art which will be around for thousands of years. We are forever grateful to Paul who became a dear friend.
I have some great memories growing up with Paul lego swimming in your pool at else grove birthday parties sleepovers and get togethers with neighbours I started school with Paul back in 1992 starting in prep together I Was in His grade from prep through to grade 5 then split in grade 6 and then on to the same high school as well taking the bus to lilydale and walking out to lilydale heights together I did not see much of Paul after high school but I never forgot how funny and talented young man he became I would like to send my most sincere condolences to everyone through these difficult times
Such a beautiful celebration of Paul. Paul was a favourite student of mine at Lilydale Heights College and over the years I have remembered him fondly. Our Year 12 English class was all the better for having Paul in it and the interesting and humorous contributions he made to our class discussions I still recall vividly, ‘Ms. Logan’ he would say ‘ are you really sure that’s what the author meant ?’ and ‘might you be reading too much into this text?’ I distinctly remember his ‘Toastie Tuesdays’ ritual and when Mr. Waddell, Mrs. Sargeant, and myself happily attended his 18th birthday party. Our attendance was a sign of the friendship we had formed with him and the respect and affection we shared for this young man. I celebrate the success he enjoyed with his personal and professional life and my thoughts are with his family.
Paul was such a unique character. I remember the primary school days when my son would walk to school with Paul. And the Ancestral Trail story magazines he followed so closely. Every fortnight, there would be a new magazine to pore over. And so we remember Paul as a funny sensitive quirky and joyful spirit.
Lots of love to Holly and baby Beaux, to Ron and Jenny, Ashlee and Kirstie and their families. Good mate to Brendan.
Our deepest sympathy to the Smits family, a touching service your memories are special and will be treasured forever Paul was a very special man our heart goes out to you all .
It was our great pleasure to have known and worked with Paul and we are so very proud of all his achievements. Every day, when we look at the magnificent statue of Captain Borella out the front, we will remember and honour two great Australians, one a war hero and one very talented, loved and admired young man.The beautiful service today truly did honour Paul in a loving and memorable way. George and I, David & Tim and all the staff of Peards Albury send to Holly, Ron, Jenny and all of Paul’s family and friends our love and deepest sympathy.
Just a little story: I started working at Creature Technology with Paul during the lockdowns last year, and was finding it hard to get to know everyone… But when we finally got out of lockdown, to make me feel welcome, Paul would wave and smile at me enthusiastically every time he saw me—even if he was on the opposite side of the factory or talking to other people! He will be dearly missed.
Sharon and I only knew Paul over the past two years as he crafted our magnificent Major Banjo Paterson Sculpture, in that short period of time we learned to love and respect him and admire his great talent. We will never forget him and he lives on here in Yeoval every day as his Sculpture stands proudly at the Banjo Paterson Museum. Alf and Sharon Cantrell.
Holly, we are so sadden by the loss of Paul and the pain you feel. We hope that with time your pain will ease. We know that your family and friends will always be there to love and support you and your little girl. We send you our love and are thinking of you. Lou and Maria Scapin
All our love.
The heartfelt, brave and beautiful speeches did a great job of expressing some of the magic that was Paul.
We’ll be eating toasties and crunching tacos in his honor.
