  1. Peter and my husband Gary had regular, long lunches together where they talked about a variety of topics. They were goods friends who always supported each other. Peter was keen to take us to Greece to show us his village in the mountains. We enjoyed his stories about his adventures in the mountains, the monastery and meeting a bear when out walking.
He generously let our daughter stay in his unit when she was travelling through Greece.
We have framed photos of Peter’s trips to San Francisco and Cuba which will be a lovely reminder of Peter.
    My sympathy to you all.

We send sincere condolences to you Irena and your wider family. We have learnt so much more through this wonderful service of farewell to Peter, about the Tsitis heritage, Greece, and his devotion to his family. As a treasured friend of my brother, Ralph, now deceased, from Northcote High School days, his warm spirit was enjoyed by our parents, and the hugs, smiles ,and interesting conversations we had every time we met, meant a great deal to me.
Your loving tributes today gave us further insights into his life of talent, intelligence, generosity and loving guardianship to every one of you. Thank you.

    Our hearts are with you.

‘Lives of great men all remind us we can make our lives sublime,
And departing, leave behind us footprints, on the sands of time.’

  3. Sitting down watching Peter’s life’s humble beginnings and his legacy unfolding has bought many tears and memories.

Peter was a true Gentleman, full of knowledge and encouragements, full of laughter and memories. Never a negative word was ever spoken about anything or anyone.

He was always proud of his wife, his children and his grandchildren, his friends, and their children too.
I take this moment too Peter, to say “Thank you” for taking Chris (Christopher) under your wing and encouraging him to be unique and spread his wings. He learnt so much from you.

I remember the many times you went to call him but got me instead. We were able to speak Greek and reminisce our father’s heritages. You always ended the call by saying how proud you were of Chris and his achievements and how proud I should be as mother to have such talented and educated kids – Chris and Lindsay. I now understand the significance of Lindsay’s name to you. Your best friend’s name. Thank you.

Peter you will be tremendously missed but you will ALWAYS be in our hearts.

You are like an eagle. You are on notice to be courageous and stretch your limits. You do not accept the status quo, but rather reach higher and become more than you believe you are capable of. You look at things from a new, higher perspective. Be patient with the present; know that the future holds possibilities that you may not yet be able to see. You are about to take flight.
MAY YOU SOAR LIKE AN EAGLE… till we meet again. Meni

  4. I am grateful for the opportunity today, to hear wonderful stories of Peter’s life and family – thank you. My thoughts are with you Irene and family.

  5. Very sad to hear of Nondas’ passing. I met him many years ago at a book event and after a chat we realised that we are related on my grandmother’s side. She was born in his village, Vithos. Always a gentle man, always interested in talking about art, books and all the good things in life. Our deepest condolences to all the family. Στο καλό αγαπητέ Νώντα. Θα σε θυμόμαστε πάντα. Helen and George Nickas and our family.

  6. You have my deepest sympathy for the loss of your husband and father. I know that no words can take away this painful experience. So I will simply say that Peter lived a full and eventful life and his curiosity did
not dim as he got older. His relentless drive to do more and achieve beyond his humble beginnings was admirable. As was the pride he felt for his children. We can all imitate his humor, encouragement and boundless optimism. He will be missed in this world.

  7. Many fond memories of time spent with Peter as a client and a friend. He showed a keen interest in everything going on around him and life in general. Unfortunately because of Court commitments I cannot be at the service.
