After watching the service online, if you can leave a guest message to let the family know you have joined into the service, that would be greatly appreciated.
I have memories of Norm Pell in his latter years.
Though I knew him at arms length, he always had time for you. He was involved with in Ministry for many years and a credit to the baptist union.
I was sorry to learn today (17th March 2021) of Norm’s death and his going to be with the Lord. My memories go back to the Pell’s years of ministry at Rosanna Baptist 1954 – 1958. I was in my early teens but their ministry has left a lasting impression on me. I believe Norm was the person who ministered to my father George Blum, who recommitted his life to the Lord. Dad was badly scarred by his War Service and the things he did and saw in New Guinea. So as I say I had two fathers the one who came home from the war and the one who got right with the Lord again. Dad went on to run the All Age Sunday School and became a Deacon, he had become a Christian at age 15 the year his mother died, attended night classes at MBI which fitted him well for his later rolls in the life of the Church at Rosanna. Norm was a powerful influence in the life of the Church at Rosanna, there would still be some left who remember Norm with thanks to God for his life and ministry. Any time I would meet Norm in later years he would greet me with that big smile lighting up his face and he always remembered my name and where I fit in. Another faithful, gracious, Godly, man of God called home!
Loving sympathy to Dorothy and Alan, Dorothy I remember as a gracious helpmate for Norm, they will miss his presence but can rejoice in the knowledge Norm is Now Forever with the Lord!
I was very pleased that I could watch Norman’s service as I could not be there in person. Norman was such a lovely man and he and Dorothy were wonderful neighbours. It was great to hear all about Norman and his early life and the impact he had on so many people.
Rest in peace Norman and thank you for your friendship. Love to Dorothy and the family.
Norman has had a big impact on Marilyn and myself. He stayed with us many times in Toowoomba while supporting the local Baptist church. One day I asked Norman was he always such an encourager. He said no but it was a gift he prayed for. I have shared this many times over years in ministry. Norman wanted us to come to Tassie to plant a church not long after Tim and Sharon started. Our lives took a turn and we have been AoG pastors for over 20years. I am so pleased to have been prompted by the Holy Spirit to look up Norman and see this service. Our hearts go out to you Dorothy and Alan and family. May the Lord Bless you and keep you ALL the days of your life. Much love NigelandMarilyn Bell.
A lovely service Troy to honour such a special man.
Normie spent two years here at Wodonga DBC where we got to know him.
We had some wonderful times and had a lasting friendship, always encouraging, always praying for you always checking on how we were, never forgot you.
Reminds me of an old hymn ‘what a friend we have in Jesus’ that was Normie
Well done good and faithful servant, we will miss you.
Thank you Norman.
I had the privilege of serving alongside Norman during his time in Wodonga. He had such a genuine love for people and enthusiasm to see the church in action through the ministry of all believers.
He and I shared many special times shaping and crafting services that were relevant and understandable to all who would attend, especially those who may come along for the first time.
He was such an encourager and was my biggest cheer leader as I explored the gifts God had given me and how they could be used in His church.
Thank you Dorothy for freeing Norman to serve with us in Wodonga all those years ago. God used him during that time to bring many to Jesus and we are truly blessed to have had him shepherd us during those years.
I met Norman in the later part of his life(last 10 years), but he has left a lasting impression on me.
He crossed our paths when a group of us wanted to start a church in Seymour, Victoria. He held our hand as we walked that difficult path. Step by step he led the way, knowing all along where we were going.
Personally I felt that he was my biggest fan and saw things in me that I couldn’t see myself. He encouraged me and inspired me to be a better person.
I always enjoyed our catch ups over lunch in the bakery in Mitcham. I would walk away feeling like I could tackle the world. Norman, thank you for believing in me and for helping me get to where I am today.
Dearest Norm
What a privilege to have met you at Wodonga Baps. You embraced everyone and your heart for community engagement was evident to all. You touched my life and I am so grateful for that. The lives of all you have touched is so much richer. May God bless you and all your family.
Norman certainly had a great impact on many lives including mine. What was said to day by Troy and others is very true he was a great encourager. My wife and I had the opportunity to catch up with Norman on the week between Christmas and New Year. I first met Norman in Newcastle in 1988 when he started “Reachout” at Bel Air Baptist. We have been friends ever since. The beauty is that we will meet again in heaven what a day of rejoicing that will be. My wife & I also have valued the friendship that we had with Dorothy especially the time we would come to Melbourne and have a meal together.
My memories of Norm are from Rosanna. He always had such enthusiasm for everything he did. The Christian Endeavour groups were always great when Norm was there and he gave such encouragement. I met him again in the 70s in Brisbane when he was at a convention at City Hall. Remembering him helped me in my early army career as a 15 year old Army Apprentice. His enthusiasm was still the same and as I heard the service today it is obvious that he lost none of that right up to when he went to be with the Lord. My condolences to Dorothy and the family for your loss. You were the support that allowed him to be the great man he was.
How Great Thou Art – we always remember Norman when we hear this hymn. He was such an encourager and wonderfully pastoral in his life. It was a pleasure to work for him for a number of years.
May God’s comfort be with Dorothy and the family.
My hearfelt orPraise to God for Norman, his wife is calling, his friendship to me. The years we serve together as some of the most precious in my memory. The Lord was lifted up and so many drawn to him. I have missed our friendship because of the distance but there has been no distance in our hearts. He is one of a handful of men in my life made a lasting mark. I wish I could be there for the service and I’m trying to watch now
