Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to share in the fond memories of Ron’s life. We walked with Ron at Birdsland every Friday – such a nice, kind man, beautiful to all. It was a priviledge to know him. He was especially kind to my husband Allan, and our very senior 99 year-old member, Max Gilbert . From Gwennie Smith Social Secretary of Belgrave Probus
Everyone that spoke today absolutely nailed it; Uncle Ronnie was one of the kindest, most genuine people you could ever hope to meet!
The love and friendship he has given my family since well before I was born is immense. My Nan (Joan) looked forward to his visits with Marina every fortnight and since her passing I know it has been a highlight for Mum and Dad that they would still come to visit ; even as Uncle Ronnie continued to do so over the last few years since Marina’s passing. I will miss the occurrences when I happened to be there at the same time and we could chew the fat for as long as possible about the Pies and I know that everyone who met Uncle Ron is better off for having done so.
To the Painter Family,
A very fitting funeral for a great character,
We will all remember the happy time spent in Wahgunyah and all of Ronnie’s funny stories.Especially when he had had a few to many and bought Marina a crayfish that’s she loved. The next morning he said how was the crayfish and she said it was rotten and wrapped it up. Ronnie high tailed back to the fish n chip shop not knowing that it was only scraps and demanded another cray, very funny.
The time he lost his fishing rod only to get some help to retrieve it and low and be hold the COD was still attached to the fishing rod. It was a very beautiful and fitting service for such a great man.
Thinking of you all,
Keith and Dawn Hickey and all the family
