  6. Dear Roopa,

I really loved your funeral dearest. I now want to call you to discuss! As I opened the screen saver today there was a gorgeous picture of two dolphins jumping out of water. They were playing and if dolphins could laugh, I imagine they were doing that. I liked to think that was you and I enjoying our time together, feeling free to be whatever we needed to in that moment. Thank you dear one for reminding me of my own knowledge, wisdom and courage. Thank you for not letting me indulge in any feeling sorry for myself. Thank you for inspiring me to get on with it (please continue to drop those little nudges about what ” it ” iss!). Thank you for making me laugh and enjoy many things. I hear your lyrical voice, and your laugh. Imagine that the woman who I worked with all those years ago at the City of Greater Dandenong would be such a dear friend. I had no idea at the time whom the universe was putting in front of me. Thank God. What luck in life did I have to know you. Now I’m expecting that call. I’ll be waiting. And as usual, I have so much to tell you and laugh about..

Thanks Umesh, Sid, Adele and Yad for that beautiful reminder of dear Roopa. I loved the music and the photos. We all sat here on Sunday evening in Nairobi and watched the lovely service. The kids were so sad to hear of Roopas passing. I wished they could have known her more… I will look forward to being with you all in person one day to reflect on Roopa again soon. Much love.

A friendship of more than 40 years from the days in Nairobi, Roopa was a girl who left an everlasting impression in ones mind. 22. Thank you, Neil, Yad, Sid & Adele, for allowing both my mother and I to share in farewelling Roopa with this beautiful ceremony.

I remember so vividly some of the beautiful moments and conversations that I shared with Roopa; I always left her presence feeling more in tune with myself and aware of all of my surroundings. I will always cherish her and think fondly of her, as a beautiful being who embodied love, strength, and growth.
I have also left some of my most fondest thoughts, feelings and memories of Roopa in writing with Yad – so I am sure he can share them with you all should you wish to view/hear/read them.

  24. It was such a beautiful and touching memorial. Roopa was a vibrant and loving person always knew what she wanted in life for herself as well as for her family.

She was younger than me, when we used to go to kannur for our holidays we would wait anxiously for Roopa to visit us which was usually on the weekend as she stayed at her grandmothers house, she used to entertain us with all sorts of funny stories.
I recall a very funny incident she had narrated about the farm, one day she had gone there with Yadu they found the gates open and there were a lot of goats on the land so both of them literally had to run all through the land chasing them out. She said it was such a funny scene and she had aches and pain from all that running for days.
All those incidents mentioned of her childhood were so true, Roopa was a real tomboy and could get anybody in trouble.

My mom was very found of her, Roopa really took care and showed her many place in and around Melbourne, they drove to Sydney, Roopa also made her an album with all the pictures of her trip, she was that thoughtful.

She will be always be watching over you’ll Umesh, Sidharth, Adele and Yadu and thankyou so much for sharing these videos with us.. May her soul rest in peace. Love you Roopa will miss you.. Lekhaachi.
