Dear Robyn:
This is Jeff Brain from Bonney Lake, Washington, USA. The Yank who lived next door to Shane on Kazematten Straat, AKA the Kazzie, in Ghent, Belgium. Shane invited me to stay in your house while we watched the various events of the World Cycling Championships in 2010. True to his nature, Shane made it a great experience for me. And you were kind enough to let him do that for me. I’ll not forget it.
As I watched the celebration of life I was struck by the strength which you and your children have shown in accepting this tragic and swift end for Shane. His life may have shortened early by others standards, but it was a life that couldn’t have been lived any fuller. Shane did not mess around while he was here. Never missed an opportunity to do some good. A tough guy too. He climbed the bloody Zoncolan in the Giro! We’ll be thinking of, and praying for you especially during these coming holidays and for as long as I can remember to do so. Take care, Jeff.
A beautiful celebration of a life well lived. My thoughts are with you Robyn and your family. Shane will live on through you all and has left so many memories. Deepest condolences x
We are so sad for you Robyn and your beautiful family all our love Mandy and Russell ❤️

Such a wonderful celebration of Shanes life, Glenn always enjoyed chatting with Shane , a true gentleman with such an honest and great sense of humour. Shane would of been very proud. R.I.P Shane a very brave man indeed. Deppest sympathy to Robyn and family.
I never really knew Shane but a lot of his cycling friends were also mine.
His life and character was obviously way deeper than the superb athlete that most people would have known him for.
His love of family and the sites and sounds of nature that he appreciated tell me that with all his complexities lay a very simple and genuine person.
Thank you for sharing his life with me and allowing me to know him so much better.
You are so lucky to have had him in your life.
What a beautiful service. My condolences to Robyn and family. Shane was a remarkable and lovely man.
