Thank you Lisa, greatly appreciated and very kind! xo
What a beautiful tribute to Shirley, what an incredible woman, incredible life and a legacy that will live on through her loving family. Sending my love to you all x
Thank you SO, so much MJ. ❤
My late wife, Melva, and I first had the pleasure of meeting Shirley and Vern 64 years ago in a young marrieds group at Koonung Heights Methodist Church. We continued to meet through the years – though our ranks have thinned – but during that time we enjoyed the fun, friendship and fellowship with Shirley. Always bright and a smile for everyone. What an incredible family to whom I send my sympathy.
Thank you John, what a kind and thoughtful comment! ❤
Although my heart breaks at the loss of the most amazing Grandma, and even more so that I could not be there with you, I am so thankful that you were able to be by her side and that we could all join in to remember her incredible life.
Dale (Mum), Kym, Rowan and Erin you were incredibly well spoken and heartfelt, you did her amazing life story justice. And to Angus, Kelly, Carmen and Erin thank you for representing all of the Grandchildren. Grandma would be proud, like she always was.
“Don’t forget to tell your favourite people that you love them” – Shirley Temple (the second greatest Shirley)
Love Tegan (and family) xx
Thankyou darling Tegan! LOVED your video tribute, missed you and all of Shirley’s grandchildren. Love mum ❤
To Kym, Dale and Rowan, and all the other members of the McConchie clan,
I can’t believe she’s gone. To me she was unquenchable, unstoppable and unsinkable.
She was such a big part of my childhood when we were neighbours, and even when we weren’t neighbours, she was still part of my life through her friendship with mum, Marjorie Perks. There was a reason she was ‘Auntie Shirl’, she was family. I have been the lucky recipient of a ramekin of pâté, have felt the warmth of her interest whenever we met, and talked and talked about preserves, and been gifted some of her preserving jars when she didn’t think she would need them any more.
She was such a generous person with everything. Her time, her attention, and her love. She was a wonderful, supportive friend to mum for many years. I am so glad to have known her and I will miss her.
Thinking of you all .
Vale Auntie Shirl
Beautiful Jan, thanks so very much – many fantastic memories and a wonderful and long friendship between Shirley and Marj. ❤
What a wonderful celebration of life for a fabulous gal. Such fond memories from her loved ones that were shared for us to get to know her more. I remember when Shirley joined us for a live theatre performance while Nigel was at a KISS concert, do you remember Dale, there was puppetry involved!
What a wonderful full life filled with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and much love.
Sending our love to you all,
Love Heather and Lance
P.S. I would love her Patè recipe
I remember that night well Heather, what a great memory! Xo
Best wishes to all. She will live on in the tribe who love her.
PS I’d love the pate recipe.
On behalf of Kym, thankyou Shelly! X
Such a beautiful tribute to Auntie Shirl. Shirley was dad’s aunt, but she was like another grandma to us.
Some of my favourite memories with Shirl were when she flew to NZ to look after me while mum was having Emma. She gave me this special bath headband that allowed her to rinse my hair without getting shampoo in my eyes and rocked my 3yo world! She would always call and send a card on our birthdays, she never forgot, and was always an amazing host whenever we went to visit. I still make her gherkin & cream cheese dip, (thanks for the recipe, Shirl!) and my colleagues tell me that I’ve picked up her charming habit of humming to myself when I’m working!
Shirl made everyone in her orbit feel cared for and loved. What a beautiful legacy to leave.
LOVE this story Lauren! Gherkin dip, YUM! Thank you VERY much. ❤
Our condolences – Shirley was a lovely person who will be missed by all.
Thankyou Robyn and Colin, much appreciated. X
Dear Dale and family,
We send our deepest sympathies on the loss of your beautiful mum. It was lovely to be able to attend the live stream to hear all about Shirley’s life. We remember her as a very kind and caring lady and always the life of the party.
Anne and Mary O’Dea (sisters of Liz McConchie).
Thanks so much Mary and Anne for your kind words. X
Having Known Shirley for some 65 years no amount of the previous comments could do justice to her lively self. A wonderful and outgoing girl a joy to be with and so interested in all those who were able to know her. We sadly missed the passing of Vern all those years back and to see Shirley carry on as she has carrying on without her partner. She has had a wonderful and supportive family and a caring circle of friends that shall surely miss her.
Our love to Shirley’s family and to all who knew her.
Thank you SO very much Les! ❤

Dear Kym, Dale, Rowan and all of Shirley’s very special family village,
You all created a beautiful service to honour Shirley and celebrate her sparky energy, generosity, care, optimism and love. It must have been so hard to do this in the current context so thinking of you all.
She was a great friend for so many decades to Mum and Dad (Dawn and John) and us Stubbings kids starting as neighbours in the muddy Landen Avenue before it grew into suburbia. Our families have had strong connections since that time. Great memories of tennis games, friend gatherings, Shirley’s cakes and many BBQ’s.
And she made baby blankets for my two when they finally arrived in my early 40’s!
Love to you all, take care and thank you . Kerry Stubbings. X
