  1. What a fitting tribute to a beautiful man. We didn’t know Ted, but if he was anything like our dear friend Jeanette, he was remarkable. Much love to all the family. Wendy and Pete. Xo

  2. Thank you all for such a wonderful tribute to a wonderful man. My love and condolences to the family. Ted and Joy were such a big part of my early childhood and the photos and service have brought back such great memories. I will set this up for Mum to watch as I know she would have attended if it was at all possible.

  3. Dearest Jeanette, Robert, Allison and Ian (and Lorraine)
What a moving, honest and profound tribute to such a beautiful soul. Ian’s words about what his father taught him about Ted’s view of life will now always be with me. You have all shared the soul of ‘the man you called dad’ with us and gifted me with some of his wisdom. Thank you.
Vale to your beautiful strong father. A man of principle, love, music, craftsmanship and the land.
Heartfelt condolences to the whole family.

  4. Such a beautiful moving tribute to your dad. Loved listening to all your perspectives on life with him. I spoke to my daughter and she remembered the billy cart days from when she was very young. I remember water skiing at Glen Maggie and many other family days together. Wonderful memories to sustain you all for ever. Karen Emmett xx

  5. My sincere condolences to the Hanke family.
What an extraordinary gentleman, a wonderful family man, husband, father and grandfather who brought so many unforgettable moments to his loved ones. He will be sorely missed.
    Best wishes Catherine

  6. Thank you for sharing this beautiful service with us all. Every photo, every speech and tribute was truly wonderful and I loved Ted’s sax playing. I have lovely memories of feeling so welcomed by Ted and Joy at the orchard over the years. It was a magical place for sure. In 1978 I had the pleasure of working on the orchard – thinning the apples. Lunch times with Joy and Ted were special and though the place was bustling with activity, there was such a peacefulness there – and that feeling stayed with me right up until the last time I saw Ted and Allison there 4 years ago. He was an absolutely lovely man and the depth of your love for Ted came through in all of your words. Deepest condolences from all of your family here in Canada. Thanks to Bill too for a lovely service.Brenda (Robert/Hank’s sister-in-law)

  11. He definitely had eyes that sparkled. Such a handsome man. Thanks for creating those wonderful memories, I won’t forget the Billy Cart races, rides on the tractor and of course starting the water skiing journey for us all, what a legacy that still carries on to this day.
Gorgeous Aunty Joy and Uncle Ted. RIP in together.

  14. Dearest Ian and Hanke family,
Thank you so much for sharing today’s service.
You all spoke so beautifully, and vividly evoked the man and family I have heard so much about over the years – what a privilege to have that small glimpse.
From everything you have all said, a life truly well lived, and the world will be a poorer place for Ted not being in it.
My thoughts and condolences are with you all.

  18. What a wonderful man. I’ve got so many fond memories of Uncle Ted and the time we spent together. Tractor rides, working in the shed, slide nights, being in the orchard…the list goes on. An intelligent, thoughtful, genuine and hard-working man who was a real role model in my life. I am so lucky to have known him and it’s really sad for us all to not have him around anymore. A true gentleman. Condolences to all who loved him. Vale Uncle Ted.

  19. Lovely to hear the many stories of warm memories of Ted Hanke from his children and grandchildren about spending family time on the orchard with him as they grew up. Also good to again see Mr and Mrs Hanke together in the video A very touching memorial to a gentle man. Best wishes Sean Dignum and Julieanne Wenn

  20. My deep condolences to Ted Hanke, the father of my partner Ian Hanke…

Ted is a kind, quiet, loving his family man…always enjoyed his grandchildren and all members of the family and loved watching birds through the window…
I wish I could hear him play saxophone, but I can only imagine his joy of music.

    Be at peace

  21. Farewell Ted,
A lovely man who gave so much love to those around him, full of fun at billy cart races and all the big family gatherings and now to be reunited with his beloved Joy.
    RIP
    Heather
