  1. What a beautiful service! Thank you for sharing it with us all. Terry was a true champion and I always enjoyed my time with him sailing to Deal Island and Refuge Cove and our racing days with a wonderful crew!

    He will be lovingly remembered as a true friend and a sailor of the seas!

    Janene, thank you for allowing Terry to have his sailing life as I would never have met him. He always talked about you and your kids etc and either wombat conventions, psychology etc.What a beautiful beautiful soul.

  7. This was a lovely service Janene, very heartfelt. It was so nice to learn some much about Terry as he was something of an enigma when we worked together at CG&CS. I always enjoyed his sense of humour and his intellect. he was a considerate and kind person, personified what it was to be an effective Social Worker. My deepest condolences to you and your family. May Terry rest in peace after such an awful illness. Christine Collins

  11. So many of my favourite childhood memories involve Terry. Of course I will always treasure the stories of Harry Hippopotamus. But there are so many other memories as well… camping Trivial Pursuit, boating adventures at Mueller River, a-carrota carrota (sp?) at the Prom… and the list goes on. I will treasure those precious memories always, knowing Terry shaped them in a way only Terry could xxx

  12. Very hard to say goodbye to such a great person with a huge heart. We had lovely times on the boat either in Melbourne during the races or in the Whitsundays during our short holiday. We always had our Father Christmas with us all year around. We will miss you very much love Jurgen and Barbara

  13. Our dear neighbour, a cornerstone of our little no-thru road community. Today I reflect on and treasure so many childhood memories of street party meals and adventures shared with you and your family. The warm, beaming Swalwell smile. Thank you for taking care of all those pestering possums.

As a colleague at Dandenong CG & CS, I recall very well Terry’s dry sense of humour, wise intellect, kindness and support.     I never met Terry but followed the beautiful service (from Perth). His was a remarkable and rich life which you have shared with a truly lovely man. if all teachers, parents and grandads were like him, what wonderful world it would be.

  26. I have very fine memories of sailing with and against Terry including the re-race afterwards in the club. A noble competitor and a gentle person. I will miss him

  27. What a wonderful and full life Terry had. I have had the pleasure of knowing him for nearly six years and loved that he was alway up for a chat and was such a gentle soul.. He will be greatly missed and the the world a sadder place without him in it….

  30. What wonderful memories we have of our camping times with Terry telling wonderful bedtime stories to our Barrett kids – they loved them and him so much! Best wishes to the “Swollies” – keep happy and safe and remember the good time’s – we were privileged to share just a few with you all!

  33. Farewell to a lovely gentleman with the most calming manner and great sense of humour. I very much enjoyed our time at Narre Warren Student Services many years ago.
