We stand with you at this very difficult time on the passing of your SPECIAL LOVED ONE, Walter. I did not have the privilege of knowing him as you have done so intimately over the years, but from what I have just read above, he is loved and respected as a VERY UNIQUE CREATION OF GOD!!
Be assured of our continued love, prayers and support as you face the uncertainties of tomorrow. But may you find in JESUS the peace and strength only He can give you. He is the Resurrection and the Life.
May you live with the cherished memories of the good times you have shared together as a family, and derive strength from the Lord, just as Walter did to face life and death with hope and confidence.
May He rest safe in the arms of Jesus, safe on His gentle breast,

Since then, whenever Tiny was in and out of hospital Walter was always there right till the end, a loyal friend. Walter worked tirelessly to uplift the standard of Walawwa even during his illness. Nothing was too hard for him. A true gentleman to the end. I’m sure Tiny will be there to welcome him with open arms. Rest in peace Walter

  57. Dear Cordelia and family. Please accept my heartfelt sympathies. It is a great pain and sorrow to lose your soul mate, and we have seen the loving bond between the two of you. May Walter’s soul rest in peace.

  58. Dear Cordelia, Colin, Wendell and Keith

Thank You for giving me the opportunity to pay my last respects to Walter, at least, virtually, if not physically, which I would normally have done if not for the COVID restrictions.

I have always remembered Walter in my daily prayers right through his battle with cancer and have offered up my daily online Masses & Communions for the repose of his soul since his passing.

I liked and respected Walter because I always found him to be a humble, unassuming man, with no loud, “big talk” and “show off” ways. Qualities which I have always admired in people. I know how much he gave up for the betterment of his family/children, when he moved to Australia, after having such a good, prestigious job in Sri Lanka and how hard working he was to the end.

Take comfort in the knowledge that all of you, as a family, got to spend time together to the end and that he died, at peace, in his own home, surrounded by his family AND NOT A LONELY, SAD DEATH IN A HOSPITAL SOMEWHERE, especially with these COVID health issues and restrictions.

My love and prayers are with you all.

    REST IN PEACE, WALTER.

  59. May you Rest In Peace mate – your ethic and approach to life will never be forgotten. Beautiful heart and soul and hearing all those words today remind us all again of how much of a beautiful person you are and always will be “Treat your true friends like family” will always stay I’m my memory

  124. Dear Cordelia,

Please accept our heartfelt condolences. He was a great guy. As I wrote (SMS) to him earlier he was the ‘shining light ‘ in his batch at the Hotel School . He brought a lot of credit to his alma mater and the Hotel School. Sadly ,I was away from Sri Lanka far too long . Even to know that he managed the famous Browns Beach Hotel where I started my career in 1970 as a receptionist is great. He never had enemies at School and failed to smile whenever we met him. Top sportsman and a top bloke.
Rest in Peace , dear Walter
